The best out there (if you're a hue user)
**Pros:**I recently added the Philips Hue Outdoor Motion Sensor to my smart home setup, and it has proven to be a game-changer for my outdoor lighting. Here are some of the key advantages:1. **Versatile Mounting Options:** The Philips Hue Outdoor Motion Sensor offers versatile mounting options. You can attach it to a wall, ceiling, or even a post, making it highly adaptable to your outdoor space's layout.2. **Sleek Black Design:** The sensor's sleek black color not only looks stylish but also blends seamlessly with most outdoor aesthetics. It's a tasteful addition to my outdoor decor.3. **Smart Integration:** This sensor brilliantly controls both my Philips Hue outdoor lights and Innr bulbs within my outdoor wall lamps. It offers seamless synchronization between these devices for a unified lighting experience.4. **Weatherproof Reliability:** I love that this sensor can handle the elements. With an IP54 rating, it's perfectly suited for outdoor use, whether it's raining or sunny.5. **Customizable Sensitivity:** The sensor's sensitivity can be adjusted, allowing me to fine-tune the range at which it detects motion. This ensures it caters to my specific needs.6. **Daylight Sensor:** The built-in daylight sensor is a practical feature. It ensures that my outdoor lights don't turn on during the day, saving energy and prolonging the lifespan of the bulbs.7. **Long Battery Life:** Thanks to its low-power Zigbee connection, the two AAA batteries last a surprisingly long time. I haven't had to worry about frequent replacements.**Cons:**However, there are a couple of drawbacks to consider:1. **Pricey for an Accessory:** It's worth noting that this sensor falls on the higher end of the price spectrum for an accessory. But given its solid integration with the Hue system, its support for Innr bulbs, and its durable design, I believe the cost is justified.2. **Limited Compatibility:** This sensor is primarily designed to work with Philips Hue products. If you have other smart lighting brands in your setup, you might face some integration challenges. That said, it works perfectly with my Innr bulbs. In conclusion, the Philips Hue Outdoor Motion Sensor has made my outdoor smart lighting experience more convenient and secure. Its versatile mounting options, sleek black design, and reliable performance are well worth the investment. Plus, its seamless control over both Philips Hue outdoor lights and Innr bulbs within my outdoor wall lamps adds a layer of sophistication to my outdoor lighting setup. Just make sure it aligns with your existing smart home setup, and you'll enjoy brilliantly illuminated and secure outdoor spaces with a touch of style and flexibility.

Home Assistant bonuses
Works as expected but bonus features if you are using Home Assistant is that the sensors include ones for temperature and illuminance which may come in handy.

Really reliable with excellent build quality
The Philips Hue Outdoor Motion Sensor is a great addition for anyone wanting to enhance their smart lighting outdoors. It's weatherproof and durable, so it can handle rain and cold without any issues. Setting it up is simple, and it connects easily with the Hue app, letting you customise when and how your outdoor lights react to motion. The motion detection is quick and covers a wide area, making it perfect for gardens, driveways, or patios. It’s also energy-efficient, as it only activates the lights when needed. If you want to improve security or convenience outside your home, this sensor is a solid choice.

Works very well
This product works very well my problem is I have a few and the batteries last a good while, however when it's been outdoor for a good length of time when you go to replace the battery the white plastic became brittle and cracked. This was only on one of the sensors so might just be a one off

Very sensitive, good range, good battery life
I put one of these up next to my front door so that I can be alerted to people coming up to the house as I work on the top floor. I don't use the Hue Hub other than the Hue app, I use a "Zigbee stick" and Home Assistant running on a Raspberry Pi.Start by installing batteries and adding the device in the Phillips Hue app (or in my case, my Home Assistant Zigbee network). Range is good, the nearst Zigbee routing device is 20 feet away behind an external wall with wood cladding and foil-backed insulation, Zigbee gets through this where WiFi really doesn't.It's very easy to mount as the mount is separate from the motion detector. You've a choice of two mounts; one for on a flat wall, and one for on a corner. Once the mount is up you can just slide the motion detector onto it and tighten the retaining screw. Job done. The motion sensor is very sensitive and has excellent range. If you find it too sensitive to motion beyond what you want the simplest thing to do is to mask off the relevant areas of the sensor with black electrical tape, which worked well for me.My only minor issue with this is that the included temperature sensor is rendered useless by the housing. Which is black plastic, and heats up in direct sunlight even in the winter. So right now it is 7C outside and the sensor is telling me 18.5C. Out of direct sunlight it is absolutely fine. This comes with Alkaline batteries pre-installed and they last well. My sensor has been up for 9 months and the battery is still reporting 100% - which isn't true but it means the voltage hasn't started to drop yet, so there's more life left yet. Probably a whole year.
