Works great
Works perfectly with my ZV1 running off a $20 battery bank. No more worrying about battery life while shooting video

Perfect for Sony ZV-1F
So far it’s doing exactly what I need it to do. The only complaint is the battery door doesn’t close when this is connected.

*BE CAREFUL* – I fried my camera and it left me with a $370 repair cost. X_X
One star is a bit harsh, because I admit that my bad experience of this product was partly due to my lack of caution. However, the product design and labeling definitely bears responsibility, as well. Here’s a sad story:I have a dummy battery from the same brand for a slightly bigger camera, with a wall transformer leading to the dummy battery. I thought I would get this one in the USB form, as I could see that the middle of the cable looked interchangeable. I excitedly went to set up my days-old Sony RX100VA as a webcam, with this new dummy battery attached to my previous camera’s transformer, and... I learned a painful lesson in electronics. Even if a barrel connector fits, it might not have the right voltage. Indeed, I had plugged this dummy battery into a 9.0V transformer, then into my 4.5V camera. This instantly fried the camera, and now I’m left with a painful repair charge that is more than half the price of the camera itself.Yes, I should have read labeling cautiously, and I should have pulled out a multimeter to test power output before plugging anything into a delicate, valuable piece of electronic gear. But, I would say that equally, the maker of the product should not make it so easy to connect power cables that are incredibly incompatible, and/or to mitigate the power issues closer to the dummy battery. I am not an electronics manufacturer, but surely there are ways to help users avoid plugging a 9V cable into a 4.5V port. Finally, since I already had a multimeter out to test things: as another reviewer pointed out, the USB version of this passes 5V through to the dummy battery, rather than stepping it down to 4.5V. I doubt this small difference would fry a camera, but I don’t have a good track record on that front. It does, however, step down USB power from a 15V wall transformer (from an iPad) to 5V, so it seems to do its job there. For what it’s worth: this product probably works fine if you use it exactly right, as the same brand’s 9.0V dummy has worked well for me on my larger camera. But, please be *very careful* before plugging any electronic power supply into your camera gear.

Product Video Misleading but works fine
In the video setup showcasing how the battery is plugged into the camera, they show it easily closing the battery case even with the wire in the way. Mine does not. Besides that, it works just fine, it shows as if there is a battery there so I have yet to test if it will actually last long without overheating or draining or jacking up my camera (hopefully it doesnt) so TBD on that one. i connected it to my computer since that felt like a safer option than plugging it into a higher voltage plug by accident. If you have a zv-1, the battery case won't close, so you'll need to buy probably the UURig to solve this issue. that's what i'll be doing.

Test the output voltage before using. Mine deserved -5 stars.
Don't know about the built in protective IC but at no load it was just dumping the 5v from USB into the dummy NP-BX1 battery terminals. NP-BX1 is a Li-Po single cell battery and it's voltage at full charge shouldn't exceed 4.2v. I wasn't going to connect this to my Sony RX100 M VII without checking the output voltage and I am glad that I checked it. Retuned it immediately. You are lucky if it doesn't damage your equipment.
