GET THIS !
With fantastic insights and a relaxed manner, the author marries Christian spirituality with the 12 Steps - while completely separating itself from the institutions of religion and their inherent flaws. I got it on Audible, have listened to it twice already, and ordered it on the Kindle as well so I can highlight and REVIEW. HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Takes you deeper
This is a beautiful book for going deeper into the 12 steps and making them more meaningfully integrated into your life.If you feel resistance to "God" or "Higher Power", "moral", and similar terms and concepts of the 12-steps, you may find this book helpful. The author offers different ways to look at these words and provides a practical understanding of why these steps can be very helpful. The author helps explain how we can possibly allow these steps to sink in, past the "ego", past our defenses, and bring us to wholeness of mind, body, heart, and spirit. From the book:"Those who can be present with the head, heart, and body at the same time will always encounter the Presence, whether they call it God or not."I like that explanation for our spiritual connection, whatever we may call that, and whatever practices we may use to get there. Many of us who have become addicted to anything have experienced a split in ourselves where we are no longer really listening to our most inner selves that exist below all the inner criticism, turmoil, regret, and pain. We just keep self-medicating because the pain of it all has become too much. With the help of the 12-steps (or other methods perhaps) and people who can understand and provide us some compassion, we might just be able to lessen the inner turmoil and walk through the pain to the other side where unconditional love exists.

Is the audio version something else?
I have the printed book and have read through the first 2 chapters. I decided to pick up the Audible version. So far I'm almost an hour into the Audible version and its still supposedly Chapter 1 of 2 total chapters? It's not sounding like a narration of the book but something that was recorded on a speaking tour or something. It appears that there is a sermon delivered as a separate download (additional) to the book.
