Best combination of support and comfort
I have knee arthritis, and have tried everything short of knee replacement for pain relief. In an effort to continue my favorite activities (dancing and cycling), I decided to order several knee braces and test them out. Although most helped, some gave more support than others, and were more comfortable to wear. Here is a summary of my findings:Futuro Sport Moisture Control Knee Support - good support, but hot, sweaty, and not very comfortable. Restricted movement. The knee cutout didn't fit around my kneecap very well. Big, black, and ugly. Why do manufacturers think we need to advertise that we are wearing a brace?Futuro Stablizing Knee Support - a simple elastic sleeve. At least this one was beige, but still hot and restricted movement some. Good support.Cho-Pat Dual Action Knee Strap - the double knee strap seems to provide very good support, but when you bend your knee, the edges dig in to your skin. Very uncomfortable, restricted movement significantly. Worst of all, the prickly side of the velcro faces out and gets stuck on your clothing or scratches your other leg.Bracoo Knee Strap - simple but effective - good support and comfortable to wear. Could be worn above or below the knee - two of these would mimic the Cho-Pat but be far more comfortable, without restricting movement - although it might not be big enough if your leg muscles are large above the knee.Neo G Medical Grade VCS Jumpers Knee Patella Band Strap - The silicone pad on this provided very good support on either side of the patella to help stablize it. Good comfort and mobility. Only gripes - it was not beige, and when worn on the left knee, the velcro strap must go on the inside, where it can get knocked loose by your right leg brushing against it.Futuro Sport Adjustable Knee Strap - Very comfortable. The molded padding provides some lateral support, but not quite as much as the Neo G.Jumper's Patellar Tendon Strap with Silicone Pad by Oppo Medical - Very comfortable, but only places pressure on the center of the patella, not the sides - and therefore did little to help me. Might be helpful for other conditions. Very unobtrusive. My choice? For workouts and biking, Neo G below and Bracoo above the knee. For dancing - Neo G - unless I'm wearing pantyhose, in which case either of the Futuros would be less likely to snag. For everyday wear - the Futuro knee strap - A little less support but a lot more comfort.10/14. Had to order two more Neo G's because my daughter swiped mine. Her problem is not arthritis- her kneecap doesn't track straight - a common cause of knee pain in women. She says they help quite a bit.

These ended up working beautifully to push the knee pain to the end of ...
I got these to help my knees out on a 25-mile hike through the Catskills -- five summits over two days was destined to damage my knees. These ended up working beautifully to push the knee pain to the end of the hike. The back could use something to smooth the edge -- deep bends can start to chafe the back of the knee. It's not a big deal and doesn't cause an issue on short runs, but be wary about heavy exertion/deep bends.Otherwise, very comfortable. The bar beneath the patella is nice and flexible, too.

One of the best...Well thought out.
One of the best Knee Straps I tried. Being an older person, you get those chronic knee pains. Yes, the obvious thing for most of us is to get surgery but for those that can't afford it and make due for few moments of glory these knee strap does help. I'm not sure you can get a perfect knee strap but this comes close. First, this is the only one I seen with GEL and it's removable(velcro). I first thought it would be awkward because it seems lot thicker then it should be but I realize this makes it very comfortable. Another strong point is the strap is little longer below where the plastic loop thing is attached so you can pull the nylon strap through to tighten it. Now, most people complain how the little plastic piece hurt the side of the knee as it rubs against it. Well, Neo solved that problem by having the strap below the plastic loop. Now, all knee straps do not last forever no matter how much we want it to. I play basketball, volleyball, softball competitively and few flag footballs. So, I don't expect the knee strap to last forever. The only downside is maybe people with small knees/legs. I usually wear Med size knee braces, people who require Small might just have some inconvenience of having the strap dangle past the velcro strap. When I play sports that require lot of jumping like basketball and volleyball, I like to strap it little tighter and it goes slightly beyond the velcro point with the strap dangling about 1/3 inch beyond the velcro. So, I'm guessing someone with smaller knees this might be little long. Can't be universal for all knees. Now, I read some reviews before I purchased this. Lot of the complaint is the brace coming loose or tightness on the back where velcro is located. First, in my opinion you shouldn't be wearing this particular brace for long period of time for that you should buy a full brace, it's just common sense. I believe these were meant for short performances. Once a heavy activity is done you should circulate your blood by loosening it then retighten when going back doing heavy activity like jumping. That's whey these have velcro so you can loosen it and tighten it at will. Yes, if you have heavier sweat glands these might come loose because of the silicone gel being so big. I had tighter knee straps but I'm not sure if it's good for the knee and leg to stop the circulation for a long period of time. The velcro strap in the back has nylon protection but understand the nylon in the front of the material is softer/looser then the one on the back where the velcro is attached. Yes, it's bit harder and I believe it's because to handle the various tension one uses to tighten the velcro strap. It doesn't bother me, I personally don't like the looser softer feel on the back. I want it tight sometimes and it does it's job. Like I said, you shouldn't be wearing this particular strap for hours, I don't see the benefit, most PT will tell you to buy the full knee brace. It's fine for me to do 30-40 minutes of workout or game of basketball or volleyball, then I would loosen it then tighten it back up when I get back into any workout. If I'm out doing few hours of yard work I would wear a full knee brace. So, you will never get a perfect knee strap for everyone but this is well thought out. Lot of features that you want on this particular knee strap. Hope this helps.

Great Idea, Poor Execution!
I really wanted to like this brace, and it DOES have it's merits, but there is a fatal flaw. First, the good. The silicone pad that is attached to the inside of this brace is a MIRACLE!! It keeps pressure on the patella tendon and eases pain like you wouldn't believe. I was extremely skeptical, and I couldn't believe the relief I got immediately. Now, the bad.....and it's bad. It's INCREDIBLY uncomfortable to wear for longer than an hour or so. The rigid velcro strap starts to dig in to the back of your knee, and if you're slightly off on the hook and loop strap, that wiry hook portion of the velcro will dig into your rapidly chafed leg. What I did was also buy the Firmgrip Athletics Patella Knee Support Strap, and I removed the silicone pad from this one and attached it to the Firmgrip strap (which is MUCH more comfortable). It worked like a charm! Now, I can wear it for hours with no discomfort, and that silicone pad keeps my knee feeling great!! It sucks to have to buy both, but once you have the silicone pads, you're golden!
