Sun Wukong, (The Monkey King) is a monkey born a heavenly stone who acquires supernatural powers. After rebelling against heaven and being imprisoned under a mountain for 500 years, he ater accompanies the monk Xuanzang on a journey to India. Thus, according to legend, Buddhism is brought to ancient China. This much beloved story, is as much a part of Asian culture as The Iliad nd The Odyssey or The Wizard of Oz are to the West. This first installment in a trilogy of live action 3-D movies is actually a prequel to The Journey To The West, the much told story of the Monkey Kings adventures on the road to India.

Monkey King 2
I love the effects, and like the story of this movie. It starts out with a monk who is attacked while on his journey, and trapped in a cave. Then he discovers Monkey King. Monkey King gets the monk to free him, and then he helps the monk escape his pursuers. Along their journey they come across a evil demon who wants to eat the monk to obtain immortality. Watch how they overcome her.

You can watch in Cantonese and mandarin in the language section!
I love this movie!! Decided to buy it and it works with my Blu-ray player! English subtitles if you need them.

Dragon Gate Bookstore is awesome
I just wish the movie Monkey King 2 was. I would not recommend this movie. I bought it because Gong Li was in it whjich goes to show every actress has a bad movie.

I had wanted this mostly due to Gong Li who I consider a great actress and never disappoints. Have never seen any of the other Monkey King films before so plan to catch up on the others.

Continue the fun of the Monkey King,,,
We loved the first Monkey King Movie and couldn't wait to see the second. Loved it. English subtitles are so easy to get used to. Now own all three parts of the Monkey King series.

I really enjoyed this trilogy for the way myth and history played. Fun movie that doesn't have to be taken seriously.
