The quality is astonishingly good
The detail in the CNC-cut brass plate is very very good. The hardwood handle and steel rod are top quality as well. It comes with a small 'toothbrush' with stanless steel bristles to clean the stamp of ash between uses; however, the harder steel bristles will wear the softer brass over long-term use. I recommend a similar brush but with brass bristles. Even better would be stiff plastic bristles, but the user would need to allow the brass to cool before using a plastic brush. One improvement the vendor could implement would be to make a notch in the edge of the brass stamp to provide the user a reference for 'this way is up' when placing the stamp on the work. I did this myself and it works great.Despite all that--for this price the stamp is a real bargain and a nice way to add that final personal touch you your wood or leather creations.

Just okay
It is an okay stamp and works like it should. However, you screw the end of it on and it is hard to get secure. I was stamping some items I made for my family and the end of it came off. Since you heat this up to burn the wood, it was a little scary that the end came off like it did. Luckily, I did not instinctively reach for it. I had to dump water on it to cool it off before I could pick it up and reattach it. So if you order this, be cognizant of how easy the end comes off.

Well made
I just received this today. My immediate impression of the iron is very positive. The detail of “The Tree of Life” and my signature font are well done. The rod holding the brand is very sturdy. The handle is very comfortable. It came with a nice little stand that allows it to cool. I’ll be testing it out and will update this afterwards. I’m very pleased with this purchase.

Works great for branding my woodworking projects!
I use this to brand my woodworking projects. It took a little practice, and I'm still working on it. For the result in the picture I heated the branding iron for 10 minutes, even then it was too hot. But I practiced several times and by the time I made this one the iron had cooled down enough to make a decent image. I discovered a few more tricks. First I couldn't get a good image by setting it flat on the wood. So I rolled the brand around its edges. But with this technique you have to be careful not to otherwise move or rotate the brand. Doing that will smudge the image. Second, to avoid more smudging I had to be very careful how long I left the brand on the wood. My technique is to keep it on the wood just long enough to place it on the wood, roll the iron around the edges, and then remove it. All this has to be done relatively quickly.in summary, my steps are to heat the brand for 10 minutes, turn it off and unplug it, make several practice brands rolling the brand around the edges, and when I get a clear image I brand the project. The design of this brand is based on my great-grandfather's "Circle Y" cattle brand. I love that I could do that!
