Worth the purchase!
Great quality, super happy with our purchase. It was perfect for my space and for the plants I needed to re-home. Would recommend. Also, we feel the instructions were a bit lagging, I am fortunate enough to have a builder of a husband 💓💪

Sturdy, Multi-functional Bookshelf by Dependable Manufacturer
As the majority of reviews state.. this is a solidly built ladder bookshelf that can be used in a multitude of ways. I own the bookshelf, table and side table (for a printer) and the product line consistently delivers. However, the laminate shelf surface falls short of performing like a laminate (like an Ikea product). The surface is unprotected and can be torn if you, for example, leave a piece of tape on it for too long. Fortunately, the color (weathered gray) is easily duplicated with a pencil. I plan to spray the shelves with a matte clear coat to seal them .. water coming in contact for with shelving for a prolonged period could be a disaster. Despite this shortcoming, for the money, it's still an excellent deal.

Weird assembly, beautiful shelf!
Absolutely beautiful shelf! Very sturdy and holds all of my plants well, I haven’t tried putting very heavy items on yet. I was in between gray or natural, but happy I went with gray. It’s a bit of grayish brown, I tried to get a good picture of the color with sunlight. Beautiful color! But I’m sure natural would’ve been pretty too. The only annoying part was the assembly instructions were terrible, and the one or two screws for the X crossbar on the back of the shelf were too short. When we put two screws on the top of the X crossbar first, the bottom two weren’t long enough to screw in. So we undid the top two and switched it upside down and it worked, but one or two screws barely fit. We were able to screw it in but not tighten it, as soon as we tried tightening it, it just came out. I would imagine all four screws should work perfectly in each spot but weird, oh well. Luckily the X crossbar isn’t the most important piece so we’re okay with it not being able to tighten completely. Other than those small flaws, very happy with the shelf!

Closetmaid support gets an A+
This is the second one of these shelves I have bought from Amazon and assembled. Got one last year for Kid #1's apartment, she liked it so much, we ordered the same shelf for Kid #2's college apartment. For the price point, I expected some frustration in assembling and had a couple of parts that I struggled with getting in the right order, but nothing major. On the second shelf, I got in a hurry and stripped one of the screw thingys. Frustrating, but again at this price point, that's to be expected. I emailed customer support with the model #, etc. on a Sunday and they sent me out new hardware that I got 4 days later on Thursday...not THAT, I didn't expect. I expected that Closetmaid would be able to send me hardware but figured I would have to wait 2-3 weeks to get it. In the future, when buying build-it-yourself furniture of this type, I will watch for the Closetmaid name, and buy it if it meets the parameters I am trying to fill.

Beautiful shelves. I got 2 and it adds a lot to the space. Took off 1 star for the directions. After reading the reviews and having had negative experience in the past with assembling, I wanted to make extra sure that I was doing everything correctly so that I wouldn’t have to assemble and reassemble. It took me awhile to figure out the directions. There’s no text, just lots of lines and letters. I didn’t even start assembling until I felt confident with the logic and placement of all the pieces based on what the directions were saying.Looks like the most trouble ppl had was with the legs. Basically, the two front legs are angled at the foot. The other two back legs, when held up straight, have feet that are perpendicular to the floor.Even if you figured out which legs go in front and back, you can’t just attach it any which way since the holes have to align with the shelves. The front two you can kind of figure out placement based on the angled feet. If it’s incorrectly attached, the leg will branch out instead of angling toward the wall. The directions emphasize which way each leg goes, which can be determine by the placement of the holes on each leg (see last picture, circled in red).Overall I love the look of it. One minor thing I didn’t like is the vertical scratchy looking parts of the shelves. All the shelves had it. It’s not a big deal since the surface will be mostly covered but it is a little unsightly. Otherwise great shelves

A Great Purchase
Bookcase took me a hot minute to assemble because despite my sitting and studying the instructions beforehand and doing my best to think out the steps, there are still some nuances in the instructions that I missed initially, which led to having to take apart and re-assemble a couple of times. Probably just my issue, but I do think the instructions could be a bit clearer. That being said, I was able to get it done in about 1.5 hours. Would have gone faster if I'd have thought sooner to use my drill with a special bit rather than their provided hand wrench *facepalm* Other than that snaffoo, the bookcase looks PERFECT as is exactly what I wanted and as pictured. I'm very pleased!

Great Value for a Nice Bookshelf
For the money, it’s very nice. I bought it to have a safe open space for my internet modem, and it works well.It seems pretty sturdy, although I have no plans to put anything especially heavy on it, and fits perfectly in the space. The directions are basic, at best, and the hardware is not labelled (the larger pieces are) but it’s pretty easy to figure it out. Between the directions snd the picture on the box, it was straightforward.I put it together by myself in about an hour, so it’s neither too complex nor unwieldy for one person. Be sure to not completely tighten the screws until all the pieces are assembled—it will make it easier to match up screws and holes!Overall it’s a nice piece, especially for the price. I’m pleased with it and definitely recommend it.
