A Top 5 Book on Stress Relief - rigorous yet approachable
I've studied a wide variety of holistic stress-relief methods over a decade, including meditation, yoga, tai chi, qi gong, reiki, plus pilates, diet, aerobics, etc. I'm also a big reader and have gone through about 40 recommended books in these areas. Meditation as Medicine makes it onto my Top 5 list (maybe top 3) as a 'keeper' for destressing. It's power is in being rigorous - not just a few points with lots of fluff - as it covers breathing variations, specific positions for specific conditions, subtle techniques like mantras and body/hand/positioning, as well as the medical support for its approaches. At the same time, it's an approachable book that any human spirit with holistic growth & destress needs can understand. Essentially an intro to practices plus a guidebook you'll want to go back to for years. Highly recommended!

excellent book on meditation and the use of yoga in meditation
I checked out many books on meditation for my son, who was coming home from college and needed resources for a paper he was writing. I ended up looking over many of them myself and read Meditation As Medicine. The title might lead one to believe it's a book for those with an illness. And yes this is an excellent book for anyone with a health challenge. However I found this book integrates yoga and meditation in a way that can have an incalculable positive influence in any persons life. Me personally, I not only have even more energy and focus, but I think it has provided a daily motivation to seek a higher path. Same for my son!

Very valuable resource
This book is very detailed, but easy to understand. The exercises in it are incredibly valuable & add to the overall quality of life. It's my favorite book on meditation because it is very specific on how you should position yourself, how you should breathe, etc. There are a variety of options & you can skip around in the book or can read it cover to cover--works equally well both ways. This is a part of my permanent library.

I love this Book!
I initially borrowed this book from my daughter's library and while I was going through it, I realized that I had to have a copy of my own! I had heavily post it noted hers !!! I then had to go through mine and update the post it pages! The book will hold a prominent place in my library as a no nonsense book that gives excellent examples of HOW to do the various meditations correctly! The only thing I wish I had with it was a DVD of the different Meditation Methods.

Life Changing
Excellent book all the way through. I have been practicing martial arts ranging from shaoling kung fu to taichi. I have always been interested in chi for instance. It is the force that we have inside of us and we can cultivate and and use it for either inner strength, outer strength or used for healing. For the first time in my life I experienced the chi inside of me through the constant practice of kundalini yoga described in this book. As with anything else in the world you will only get out of it what you put into it. Back pain has gone away never to return and I am a changed man as far as my ego and can feel the difference in my life.
