Great mat. This encourages me to practice more. If you plan to do hot yoga and regular yoga, it's better to buy both the towel and mat. You will need to break-in the mat before use. I used the salt method to break-in. Instructions for break-in procedure is included. Many yoga practitioners have been practicing with this mat for years. So this is not your average mat, buy it if you plan to practice yoga for long.* This is a good mat for hardwood floors as this gives enough cushion for your joints.* Works better with carpet floors, because the mat is heavy and gives you more grounding. (yes mat is heavy)* you need the towel with hot yoga as mat becomes slippery with sweat.* I bought a regular mat bag (Fit Spirit 7 Chakra). But keep in mind a portion of your mat will stick out from the bag as this mat is larger than regular mats.*There is a larger version (Extra Long) of this mat for tall people. But for a person with average height, this suits perfectly*There is a pro-light version. But I like the weight and extra cushion this provides.

I liked this yoga mat, but really loved the towel! I was in search of a new mat because I found myself slipping on my old one. So I did some research and I bought this mat because of the great reviews. I do agree with most of the comments, but not all. The mat seems very durable, but be warned...it is very heavy especially if you are carting it around to a yoga studio. The first time I used it, I loved the support, but I found myself slipping after a few down dogs. Once I put the yoga towel on though, it was perfect. But I do not wish to use the towel every time I do yoga. So I read up on it and found that there is a process to condition the mat. Now I do not know why they don't condition it before they send it out to their customers...but so be it. I have yet had the opportunity to condition the mat, but once I do, I will make sure to post about the results.Now for the towel...from the moment I put it on the mat, I loved it. It lays flat on the mat and stays there throughout my practice. My hands and feet did not slip at all. If I had known how good this towel was, I may have just bought it and put it over my old mat...

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this mat. The color is great and to get the towel and mat is a better deal than buying individually or on the Manduka website. Heard that these were the best mats around so I had to buy one. Only drawback - it weighs 7lbs and I am a strong lady and it is heavy. I considered getting the lite version, but I am keeping this one and buying a bag to carry it. They say you have to do a sea salt wash when you first use it so that it is not slippery, I have avoided doing that for now by putting he towel over it and it has been fine.

I'm giving this a five star because of the overall quality of the product. I've been using it about three to four months now, and it's clear that it will last me for years to come. The density of the mat is great cushioning for the knees. I will say, it does take a lot of time to break in. I have always had an issue with my hands slipping in poses with this and other mats. I use hand rosin to help with this issue until this mat is broken in really well. If you use the salt scrub method to speed up the break in process, be sure to wash with mild soap and water afterwards to get all the salt residue off. I didn't do that the first time, and the salt residue had me slipping all over the mat in the next class, even though I had rinsed it off quite thoroughly.
