Decent material, good size
When I got the product there was a bit of a dent in the side-luckily it did not seem to affect the shape of the finished cake too much. Although it would be nice if whoever packs and ships these products to look the item over to make sure there aren't any dents in it as if the dent is large enough you'll end up with a problem in your finished cake. The pan is lightweight and the edges cooked up evenly enough. I did not use a heating core to aid in the cooking of the center but it did not seem to be an issue.

8in X 3in is Perfect West Bend Ovenette Meat Pan Replacement
(FYI- West Bend made an "Oven" that would work on the stove top, on a wood fire, or propane stove in the 1930s-1950s. These "ovens" produce identical results of a conventional oven, but produce much less heat buildup, store easily, and are extremely portable. The cover even has a thermometer built in to enable accurate temperature control).I have several anodized aluminum pans by Fat Daddio's and the quality is tops. They are heavy, durable pans that produce even baking results. They are also easy to clean. This pan is the perfect replacement pan for the vintage West Bend Ovenette popular with RVers. Actually it is better than the original since it is anodized and will not react with acidic foods. This is a big plus when adding wine to a pot roast or making a pineapple upside down cake. These pans will not impart a metallic taste like ordinary aluminum pans.My Ovenette has all of the original aluminum pans. I looked for replacement pans in anodized aluminum for more cooking versatility. This pan is the exact dimensions (8 in. X 3 in.) as the original meat pan. The only difference is the rounded bottom edge. The Fat Daddio's Anodized Aluminum 8 inch by 2 inch round cake pan replaces the original round pan.The Wilton Easy Flex Silicone Baking Cups 12 Count are the exact diameter and height of the original straight sided aluminum muffin tins. The original set contained 7 tins. They were placed in a circle on the rack and one was placed in the middle, hence the set of 7.I am still looking for an 8 inch annodized aluminum pie tin that does not have the molded "handle". I did find one on another site but only if I buy a dozen..so I will have to wait.DO NOT BUY PANS OVER 8 INCHES IN DIAMETER FOR THE WEST BEND OVENETTE.Larger pans will inhibit the air flow and foods will not cook properly.Of course, my motto of multi-functional is fullfilled by the Fat Daddio pans as they perform wonderfully in a conventional oven as well as in a convection oven, as do the Wilton Muffin cups. The muffin cups also work well as ingredient prep bowls.

Rounded but not domed
I wish I was able to find a 10" domed cake pan. This did the job but I still had to do some cake sculpting to get the exact look I wanted. I'm not blaming the product because it is pictured and described correctly. It does bake up evenly like other Fat Daddio pans. They are pretty reasonably priced and carry a wide variety. Personally, I like the Parrish Magic pans better because they are often cheaper and better made (heavier). But I bought this from F/D because they were the only one that carried what I needed. All and all - pretty good.

It's a Very Cool Dome Shaped Cake Pan!!!
I made the most GORGEOUS dome shaped Christmas cake in 2013 with this. It was covered in mint green sanding sugar and reminded me of an old fashioned English Christmas cake of the 50's or 60's with its dome shaped top. Something like my mom made when I was growing up in England once or twice before she started decorating with royal icing and a lovely red ribbon around the cake. I guess it makes the cake look at bit retro... I can't be sure of the years... :)Of course, this can be used for ANY kind of cake you have in mind. Your creativity is endless and this cake just makes something a little different and impressive, and I like impressive... lol.It cleans easy enough, so long as you spray it beforehand as you usually would.

fat daddio's anodized aluminum contour cake pan with rounded bottom edge
i really like this pan . it's for cake but i used it to make easter breads. they came out great. with non-stick spray sprayed on them before puting the bread dough in to raise these breads popped right out with no trouble. cant wait to try a cake with this pan. the only complaint is i wish the pan came in a 7 inch by 3 inch size, otherwise i recommend fat daddio's [i just love that name] pan.

Double purpose
I bought this cake pan not only to bake cakes...I was thinking of making those big Cuban flans.Even though I have a few flaneras,I wanted something big to make a single one but a fair size for like 10 people. The results were AMAZING.I baked my flan and the caramel was perfect in the pan,and the looks of the flan got many "ohs & Ahs" from all the guests.I am really happy with my purchase that fits a double purpose.

Diameter listed is misleading - but still a good pan
I want to give this a worse rating, but really, this is a good pan. Its just that the size listed is misleading so it doesn't fit the specific oven I wanted to use it in.The 16"x3" pan is almost 17" in diameter at top due to rounded lip and the shape of the pan.The oven I wanted to use it in, is about 16.25" wide on the inside. So 16" was what I needed, and not 16.75".The closer to straight edged pan product line comes with more size options, so I'm just going to order one of those AND keep this and just use it for other things or in the bigger oven. That said the base is 15" in diameter. So 16" is really the average diameter only. So it you're concerned about some sort of precise fit, then the diameter listed is the worst they could have chosen.More precisely, but not quite 100% measurements3" tall, 2.99" deep?top outer diameter: 16.75"top inner diameter: ~16.1"bottom diameter: just under 15"

Love This Pan!
This pan is VERY nice quality. You can tell by its weight. I purchased this specifically to make a cake the shape of a curling rock. I didn't want to have to carve my cake to achieve the shape (to save time). This shape was perfect!
