This is THE tool you need for removal and installation of Front End Bearings
I read many reviews of various sets of bearing removal/installation kits. This Astro Set was a little more expensive then some of the others, but the last thing I wanted to deal with was a kit failing in the middle of a bearing removal or installation. What makes this kit better then the others?1) Hardened steel2) the thickness and thread sizing on the main bolt (which is HUGE)3) has the parts to do virtually any and all front bearings of passenger motor vehicles. My advice - watch some how to videos on youtube so you know what you are doing, grease the heck out of the bolt and washers to ensure you have smooth motion, and always take your time and ensure you are doing it correctly. Lastly if possible, get a decent Impact Wrench --- using a ratchet is possible, but you are going to hate life. Both the end of the bolt and the "nut" are 1 1/4" diameter. Be sure to have a wrench and a socket to accommodate both ends. This set put me out around $100 -- my mechanic was going to charge me $277 per side for LABOR to do my hubs and Bearings. A slide hammer kit was about $60 -- I ended up saving myself about $500 in LABOR. It isn't a difficult job, but it does take time and HUB removal is a bit of a pain in the butt, but totally possible for the DIY mechanic with this kit and a decent slide hammer.

My new FAVORITE TOOL!
Watch the YouTube videos of the guys using these to press out bearings for 2005 Toyota Highlander. A couple of the guys are wimps, giving up ad putting the carrier on a 20 ton press. STOP USING THE IMPACT GUN! First, the speed and "hammering effect" is WRONG for the torque type needed to work this tool correctly. I'm an Engineer so I already knew using a gun was WRONG, before I read the review of the dunces who did what the instructions tell you NOT to do!If you FOLLOW the instructions, then you don't need that press in the machine shop! But don't wuss out! Keep cranking on that bolt BY HAND with your big torque wrench (don't need to give it a setting). AND MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING THE CORRECT PIECE AND IT IS STRAIGHT! I saw two guy give up. Then having the tool sitting next to me, grabbed the adapters they said to use, and already knew their problem as I had already successfully pulled BOTH wheel bearing no problem. THEY USED THE WRONG ADAPTER, so they were pressing on the carrier and NOT the bearing!Any goober grabs a camera and the world thinks them some type of Super Car Joe because they stuck up a video on YouTube! They guys you see popping out the bearings with this tool...? Those are the mechanics. This thing can put any press up to 20 tons to shame. I've broken a press doing less than what I've been playing with this thing now.Sure you CAN mess it up. But you did something wrong if that happens! Like, did not grease the bolt? Use your head! You can't expect a tool working under that much stress to survive IF IT IS DRY. YOU were the problem, not the tool.Bring the machine shop to you! Save a bunch of time and get one. I had two bearing pressed out and new one in in about the same time it would have been to pack up and drive them TO the machine shop. That's money in your pocket if you get paid by labor hours...

Instructions needed
Really did the trick. Was a life saver when I was replacing a bad wheel bearing, but clear instruction in proper assembly and use would really improve the value of this tool. There are many videos on 'U-tube' where it is actually assembled incorrectly.

Shockingly good value in this kit
First I'd like to preference by saying that press-in wheel bearings are not a job for a novice. It can be a little more tricky than you think. Watch a few YouTube videos and make sure you're up to the job before you pull the pin on this kit.As far as the kit goes, it will pay for itself in the first use. The value here is shockingly good. The parts, forcing screw and case are all of better quality than you'd expect. I never used the forcing screw, but it's a 7/8 grade 8 bolt. If you can break that you need calm down a little. I used the plates and tubes in my press and they worked great. I've only got a 12 ton press but they held up fine.Edit: I've used this set about a dozen times now. If the bearing comes out the front of the knuckle, this set is worth it's weight in gold. It cuts the time to do the job in HALF if you can leave the knuckle in the car. If the bearing comes out the back, it's still very useful but it's easier to take the knuckle off the car. Make sure to grease the bolt and this set would last for years even in a professional shop. This is easily the best value I've found in an off brand tool.Edit: I've been using this kit pretty regularly for a couple years now. It's paid for itself many many times over. The value here is insane. It's made me a lot of money and has held up as well as what I would expect from tool truck brands. Just grease everything up and use your head and this has the potential to last a very long time.Edit: over three years with this tool and dozens of press in bearings. It works just as good as the day I bought it. I would pay 3x the cost of this from a tool truck and still not think twice. Excellent awesome product. I still haven't found a car with press in bearings that this won't work on

changed front bearing on 2010 honda odyssey
works as advertised. very sturdy. Just make sure you go slow and keep everything perfectly aligned if using impact wrench. Its easy to get off alignment --- and you don't want that when pressing new bearings.
