lite according to instructions and the mantel fell apart ,2 giant holes on 2 sides. replacement worked fine

Got my NOS Alladin lamp running again. Can't believe how bright it burns! Works and fits perfectly.

It is possible to buy several mantles in a row that will have massive holes in them after the initial burn in, but this has only happened to me once. I also have lamps with mantles that are in excess of a year old. Usually there are no issues with mantles, but some just don't want to cooperate. Please remember to NEVER touch the mantle web, even before installation. If it has a dent in it, leave it alone. I am writing this as a review for a return and just to clarify, this is the first mantle in nearly 2 yrs that didn't behave. The problem with this mantle in no way reflects negatively on this seller. Sometimes " Crap just Happens"

The media could not be loaded. The success of a perfect burnin is the key to a perfect mantle.Start with a freshly clipped wick that doesn't have any carbon on the tip. Carbon will help shorten mantle life .Place on burner set to lowest flame. Let new mantle warm up for several minutes. That maybe enough to get it to ignite. If it doesn't start burning after 5 - 8 minutes continue to turn up the flame slowly until the mantel ignites. Mine always ignited from the bottom upwards because the bottom gets more hot from the hot metal ring at the base than the top does. But it may ignite from the top down or even both top and bottom simultaneously. It will ignite and burn very evenly regardless and this causes a beautiful natural even wave of burning to leave the perfect ash latice. No holes !I wouldn't use a match or lighter without first going thru the pre warmup stage. The warmup avoids damage from temperature shock and uneven burnin holes and blemishes. Any remaining dark spots can be removed by a very light touch-up with a butane lighter turned down low. Hold just close enough so only the heat from the flame , erases the spots. Flame itself shouldn't touch the spot.

I have a Lincoln drape Aladdin lamp and used this mantle. The light is amazing.Assembly is super quick and easy. In addition, the mantle is easy to remove to when changing lamp bases. I highly recommend saving the box for protective store when the lamp is not in use. Awesome quality.

mantle arrived with a small rip that turned into a big hole after it was lit, had to use it or be in the dark, doubt I'll get my money's worth from it
