Even in today’s totally electronic world, I often find that I need simple pen and paper. For example, in the car, I often write down the amount of gas and cost if the receipt dispenser on the pump is out of paper (I hate that!) on the back of an old envelope, napkin or old thermal paper receipt. Sometimes while driving from work I sporadically remember things I need from the grocery store. Or, I’m in a standup meeting and need to jot down a few quick notes where I don’t feel like whipping out my iPhone or tablet, I use this little journal to jot down a note or two. Often, I’m looking at tv and suddenly remember the name of an old movie I want to see again; I just whip out the notebook and write it down.The point is that there is always something one needs to make a note of. This diary has solved my problem. Now to the journal itself. It is beautifully constructed and considering the superb pen and parchment like insert, is truly a bargain. The pen even comes with a refill. The buff colored journal paper is elegant and craft-like. No flimsy paper here. Best of all, the paper can be refilled or added-to with standard journal paper from any office supply store.The smell, I should say aroma, is a gentle sensuous leather like in a new car. It’s perfect. It took a minute to learn how to use the leather strap to secure it, but I found the cut-outs that must be removed to make it work.The built in book-mark could be an inch or two longer, but it works to let you know where you last entry was. In closing I want to let you know that I am going to buy another for the house; I use this one mostly in my truck, but I need one for my home too and I’m tired of carrying it back-and-forth.Lastly, whoever said the colors don’t match is perhaps color-blind. The color is spot-on to the color of the actual leather journal as shown on amazon. In my opinion this journal is a bargain at twice the price, but please don’t go up until I’ve ordered another.PS. I don’t know the company, the owners, or anyone there; I just believe this is one of the best journals I’ve ever used.

This is a wonderful gift for yourself or someone else. The notebook is a beutiful leather, the ring-bound note papers are a good quality, and the rosewood pen is well made and classic. Ther set includes a refill for the pen, and the paper is strong enough that the ink doesn't bleed through. Quality set at a great price.

This is a nice little notebook. I don't really know what the slits are for on the back cover extension that wraps around the pages. I'm sure it's good for something. Also, the inside piece of cardboard that protects the leather from being imprinted by the rings is not very pretty. I am thinking of trying to replace it with something more vintage looking. However, I love the feel and size of it and the paper that was included is nice.

A really bad journal. Too cramped to even put your hand on it while writing. Pen is not a good quality pen. The paper is tiny. And there's too many flaps on the journal, each one gets in the way of writing.

The quality of this journal is very nice. Very simple design and easy to use. It is also the perfect size, as its small enough to fit in a purse and big enough to write clearly. The quality and design of the leather cover and the papers fit together well.For the pen, it is simple and is a nice complement to the journal.Although the price might be a bit high, if you're looking for a simple journal and pen, I would highly recommend this product!

Love it! Very compact, It fits well in my purse which is what I wanted was a "close by" journal. It's perfect and nautical. I'm not sure what the notches on the flap are for but I've been using them to hold on the pens and pencils. It's nauticle and has a very vintage feel to it. It's the perfect size to have even as a notebook. Only have blank papers so I had to order the lined paper separate but still an awesome deal!

It's such a pretty book. Defiantly worth it at it's price. The pen works very well and it feels weighted but comfortable to write with. The paper inside is a nice soft tone which adds to the whole adventure journal theme. The binder clippy things work very well and they seem like good quality. I would definitely recommend this product.

Love it it's beautiful. I did order 2 packages of refilling lined paper to accompany the journal that has unlined paper to have if last longer. I love the pen they sent with extra ink cartridges
