It's thicker than the manufacturer's filter! So Jeep did not opt to use a quality filter at all and so you have this filter. It is thicker and grey. The air comes through smelling fresh and flowing stronger. The filter in my 2015 Jeep Cherokee is locating on the passenger side of the vehicle. Down below where you rest your feet to the left is a plastic panel that you just pull right off. (It does just snap right back on) There is a vertical plastic slot with a cover which has a latch on the top and bottom. Put a little pressure on the top one and the cover peals right off. Take the old filter out, which will be dirty, and slip the new one in with the arrow pointing in the direction of the airflow. Cover it up, put the panel back on and enjoy clean air.

It's a well made filter, and is much sturdier than the one I replaced. It fits into the hole fine but sticks out about 1 cm or a half inch no matter how slowly I put it in or rocked it -- it definitely was hitting the far side. This wasn't a big deal however as when I put the cover on I was able to "scrunch" it in.Have had it for about a week and the air quality in the car definitely improved. I haven't noticed the air coming out of the system being any weaker -- I'm still running the system on "2' like I did with the old filter and it seems to be the same.

If you are having a problem with the filter being too long (like I was), the rigid plastic ends of the filter should be at the top and bottom while inserting the filter into the tray.

I install a new one of these in my car every six months. Keeps the cabin smelling new without air fresheners. It also helps maintain good air quality inside the car so we're breathing clean filtered air instead of breathing in dirt and other unpleasant things like vehicle exhaust

BEWARE JEEP ONWERS: Does not fit 2019 to 2022 Jeep Cherokee with 3.2 engine, Fram changed the design in 2023, filter is too WIDE now, won`t fit in cabin air filter housing, worked last year but not this year.
