As other reviews have stated, the top layer of the blanket snags. It hasn't snagged on me personally, but the blanket I received did come pre-snagged I suppose, as there's one spot where the material is pulled up. Small aesthetic blemish that doesn't really bother me. That, and the price, are the only reasons this isn't 5 star.Otherwise, I love the cleverness of the design. I have used other similar tent rugs and they have this external harness that you have to use to pack the blanket away. This has its own built in packing system, and I'm a sucker for things like that. Hardware is all high quality too.Very pleased with this so far, with the caveat that it depends on how the thing wears with time. For the price, I want this to be one-in-a-lifetime thing, we will see if it lives up to that admittedly difficult bar.

The top fabric seems sturdy and good quality. Color is nice. Folds-up nicely. Large size & easy to clean. My mat had an issue with the black waterproof backing, which began to come off in patches. I’m not sure if mine was defective or if that’s just the way it is. I returned mine.

We wanted to take advantage of the warming weather so we bough this blanket for picnics and visits to the beach. It seemed like exactly what we needed. It folds up nice and compactly and the high quality straps make it easy to carry around.Unfortunately, the loose weave on the sitting side means that it snags easily. On our first picnic, it snagged on a shoelace and pulled out some threads. Hoping it would be a one off situation, we took it on other outings but the same thing happened. It hasn't even been through a single season of warm weather and it feels like it won't last long. It constantly get's snagged and the threads get pulled all the time. I suppose if you're very careful with it you could avoid these issues, but this isn't a Persian rug. It's meant to be used outside. Kids and pets are running around and it's bound to take some abuse. Unfortunately, it's not built to withstand it.For the price, it's hard to recommend what could have been a great blanket.

The blanket looks and feels great, however one of the rivets snapped off when fastening the strap when packing up. This causes the blanket to slowly unfurl when being carried, which is disappointing since the product has a 30-day return policy. Will be looking for another replacement product directly from REI in the future.

Couldn’t find anything else this large for the price. The weave did catch on my bracelet and fray the first time I used it, but it really does come in handy for larger picnics.

I’ve purchased two of these, and both of them had the button rip off on Day 1. Seems like a great blanket but the rivets on the latches make this a terrible product. I staying away until the next version.

Could be production defect, packaging seemed solid and I didn’t use a blade(as per instructions on the box). Product seems great otherwise but more than a little disappointing that on day one, hour one, minute one…it is already has a conspicuous defect. Expected more for the price but we plan to use so maybe this would’ve happened over time anyway. Oh well.

Not the quality I was expecting from a premium product. After one weekend of light use it looks terrible.
