Doctoral Graduation Tam Unisex Black Velvet 8-Sided with Gold Bullion Tassel Satin Silk Band

I ordered this tam as a backup after the one from my university turned out too big. I wore the regulation tam to my hooding, and it got knocked out of place in photos and fell off repeatedly. When I wear my regalia next, I’ll wear this tam rather than the regulation one. It’s the correct prickly gold bullion on the tassel, sewn on the left side. The Velcro tab lands around the 7 o’clock position on my head, rear left. I wear a 7 1/8 and it fits me with no Velcro exposed. The official uni tam is stiff. This tam is much more flexible and that makes it more flattering since it doesn’t sit flat on my head like a dinner plate. I have wanted a tam ever since I graduated with my PhD. It looks very distinguished with the regalia at graduation. Great price and great quality.

The University provided the bachelor's cap, which I have to adjust, with the doctoral regalia, and I didn't want to pay over $100+ for a tam through the school when I was not going into academia. With the tassel placed on the left side, the velcro strap wasn't directly behind my head, but to the back side so it did not bother me, especially since you can't see it in pictures.

I was nervous to purchase a tam on Amazon rather than my university's bookstore website. However, the quality is outstanding! I'm very happy with the fit, look, and feel of the tam. Bravo!

This was great quality but I had to return it because I needed a purple tassel for my law degree.

Shipped quickly. Good quality. It was a little snug but I have a large head.

This seems nicely made and has a soft adjustable headband, but the strip of velcro where you make adjustments is only one inch long. So there isn't much adjusting to be done. I wear size large hats, and this didn't come close to closing.
