I purchased this item about 15-16 months ago. Yesterday, there was the hint of burning plastic smell in the room. but we did not know where was coming from. it was like that for about 2 hrs or so. We just could not find it.I decided to start moving all electronics around and see if I could smell something burning inside one of them.When I moved the laptop. I heard kind of a buzzing sound coming from the ac adapter. The Laptop was working and yes, the smell was coming from the adapter. Quickly we turned laptop off, unplugged the adapter and this is what we found (see picture) The mix feelings come to be when we realized the adapter lasted about a year and few months. Not long enough. in the other hand, the adapter held in place without busting into flames and burning the whole place down, Not sure if is the right thing to do but I have to buy another ( the same thing) hope this new one last longer

Purchased this product in March 2019 as a replacement power source for my Asus G73 laptop. Initially, this unit worked above adequate with greater amperage than a comparable replacement charger also available on Amazon (9.5A vs 7.7A). With heftier weight and larger size, the Cloudwind adapter also maintained a cooler temperature than the other unit during times the Asus GPU drew maximum power. After a few months of use however, the innermost prongs on the DC plug that fits into the computer loosened significantly, and as a result power is intermittently supplied to the laptop so as the PC will constantly switch from battery mode to AC and back. Despite this unit putting out spec voltage with more than sufficient power, the low-quality direct current connector is a deal-breaker.

In my experience, ASUS has produced & supplied some of the worst power units for their hardware. When mine went south (as anticipated), I thought I would be stuck getting another one from them due to the age of my machine. This unit has been SO much better in terms of quality of connector & wires that I anticipate my laptop will give up the ghost before this power unit.

Mine worked... but it didn't even make it quite a year before it stopped functioning (April 2018-March 2019). Soon after I got it and unfortunately after the free return period ended, it started making a constant slight buzzing sound like electricity was leaking out that has gotten worse over time until it just decided to give up altogether. I'm careful with wrapping it up when I travel with the cord, so I suspect this was just a faulty one to begin with.

My laptop wouldn’t charge, even with a new battery. This cord was my last shot before having to buy a whole new computer. It worked! Hallelujah

Product's DC plug's prongs loosened so poorly it stopped charging my laptop in under a year. (Purchased December 2018, stopped charging November 2019) During the time it did work, the product was great. I never used it for travel and it remained with proper wire management, so no breaks in the charge. Unfortunate that one piece of this product ruined it. Did not expect this product, let alone any similar product, to only last less than a year.

So far so good. Paired w/new bat. Win 10 never reports 100% charge. That's why 4 stars. But its a 7 year old machine used heavily in dusty environ. Blow out fan w/comp. air ~twice per yr. It needs to last 1 yr before 5 stars.
