Believe the hype! iRobot is old news. Roborock rocks!
I've have a top of the line iRobot Roomba S9+ that we lovingly named Ruby. We've really liked it for quite a while and then found that it was sometimes a bit of an inconvenience because it would seem to vacuum in random patterns. We started using it less and less. Then we moved, and in doing so found a placement for it in our new house and started using it again. We were still reasonably satisfied with it, but it really lost its lustre. Then iRobot released their combo vac/mop unit. I loved the idea of that and was just about to order one when the early reviews said both the vacuum and the mopping function were good but not great. Further research pointed me to Ecovacs and Roborocks - two brands I'd never even heard of. I'm a brand loyal guy, and give extra credit to industry leaders, so pulling me away from iRobot was going to be a challenge.Long story short, I decided to try the Roborocks and there's no looking back! Setup was simple. It seems FAR more intelligent than even the iRobot. It has lidar and a camera. The app is amazing with the amount of information it can provide you about cleaning jobs with tracks, a vacuum-view camera, and so much more. The tank capacities are super. I find myself working the tanks whenever it occurs to me, which is about once a week. But the most important thing is, how does it clean? Well, AMAZINGLY! Particularly the mopping (which is its primary function for us). We have it scheduled to do a vac/mop run nightly and it does so relatively quietly and thoroughly. I can't recommend it highly enough. Yes, it's expensive, but so would the iRobot combo have been, and that's with an S7 vac (vs S9) and inferior mopping functions and tank capacities.I might also think that at this point the Ecovacs is also better than the iRobot, but perhaps #2, as the Roborock edged out the Ecovacs in my shopping. Sadly, I think iRobot might have gotten a touch complacent with their market position and left real innovation to competitors. Nevertheless, I don't regret my purchase for a second and would very, very highly recommend it!

Fantastic Vacuum/Mop Robot
I bought two S7 MaxV Ultras; one for upstairs and one for downstairs.I was skeptical of the robots and had low expectations. Boy was I wrong!I have hardwood floors and bought the robots because I have two cats; I wanted to vacuum all the fur they shed and all the cat litter they track. The cat litter I use is granular, with each granule about the size of a grain of sand. I didn't think that a robot vacuum would be able to suck up this sort of debris. To my surprise, the S7 MaxV Ultras were easily able to vacuum the cat litter as well as other debris on the floor. And the robots were great at mopping too - they cleaned all the accumulated dust/dirt off my floors.I also purchased two mop driers for the Ultras and they work perfectly.Pros:* Powerful suction while vacuuming, able to pick up cat litter.* Mopping worked flawlessly, cleaning all the accumulated dirt from my floors.* Nice app. Using the app I was able to update firmware, configure cleaning options, control whether or not I wanted the camera to be available online (I wanted this feature enabled), and define a no-go zone (I didn't want the robot to clean underneath a reclining chair I have because I put double-sided tape under the chair to deter my cats from this area.Cons:* Not able to completely vacuum/mop all areas of my condo. Some areas are simply too confined for the robot to fit into. Obviously these areas aren't going to be cleaned - under drapes, areas boxed in by furniture, stairs, etc. This isn't a flaw of the S7 MaxV Ultra per se - it applies to all robot cleaners. If the robot can't fit into an area, it won't be cleaned.* Terrible user manual. After reading the user manual I still had no idea how to use the robot.* App a bit unintuitive. After installing the app, I wasn't sure how to proceed. I ended up trying each menu option to see what it did and was able to figure it out after a while. For the most part the app is good, but improvements could be made. For example, when renaming a map, the application hung. After restarting the app, the map was renamed and all was well - but why did it hang? Another example - you can rename your robots using the app, but doing so isn't obvious at all. I eventually found the rename functionality hidden under one of the menu options - going from memory maybe it was under "Product Features" or somesuch.* Roborock cleaning fluid contains oil which is toxic to cats. I was going to purchase their cleaning fluid but fortunately I read the negative reviews of this product. Not only is their fluid toxic to cats - it apparently causes mold/slime to grow. I'm using pure tap water to mop, and this is working out perfectly.* No app for PC/Mac. The app used to control the robot is for iPhone/Andriod. This is OK, but it would have been even better if an app were available for your PC/Mac so that you can control/monitor cleaning while working on you PC/Mac, even if your phone is being recharged.I'm giving the S7 MaxV Ultra Robot Vacuum 5 stars because I'm extremely happy with the robot. Even so, improvements could be made.
