Well designed and very strong
I used a pair of these cleats to hang a large painting measuring more than 10 feet wide. The longer cleats work really well because they permit you to hit multiple studs. The holes are drilled to align with 16" studs which made attachment easy. I used very long construction screws to go directly into the studs, which is advisable. But the hardware also came with a nice assortment of plastic anchors and screws that would be useful for added strength in drywall or masonry. I was especially surprised to see they even included a mortar drill bit for an SDS hammer drill, which few homeowners are likely to have. This would make very quick work of any hard masonry. Once placed level on the wall, the cleat system permits considerable horizontal adjustment which making them strong, convenient and forgiving. This job would have been infinitely more difficult using anchors alone.

The Hanger I didn’t know I needed
I have a 72”x72” painting on a wood panel attached to a wooden frame. It takes two adults just to lift it. I had it on traditional hangers and the wood frame would warp slightly and this heavy painting would come crashing down. Then I discovered this hanger. The 2-pack was handy and I used both. I used a level and a drill to install it. It was surprisingly easy to do. By offsetting the two halves slightly I was able to adjust the placement by an inch or so to either side to get it just where I wanted it. This is the sturdiest picture hanging I’ve ever seen. Rock solid. It would hold three times the weight of my very heavy painting. If you want to be 100% sure what you’re hanging won’t drop off the wall and maim someone or take a chunk out of your hardwood floor use this hanger.

Great for workshop organizers
These work awesome for being able to quickly shuffle around tool or part organizers. I doubt these would hold heavy metal garage cabinets without quadruple brackets on the back of the cabinet. I cut them to size for my organizer with an angle grinder and it took considerable time. Definitely quality metal (cross section pictured). I got everything lined up perfectly so I can slide the organizers over, no lifting needed to reposition them. One tip; if you do multiple cleats, do the top row first so you can hang it while fitting the bottom row and use a good level. Don’t forget you need approximately 30cm of top clearance so whatever you mount can be lifted up to be removed or repositioned.

Great Product
Used these to hang 4x8' sheets of plexiglass to enclose a screened in porch. Worked fantastic.

You too can be well hung
I was a little intimidated hanging something as heavy as an expensive custom floor mirror. After we had this delivered we decided that we would try anyway. Vacuuming and cleaning around the mirror wasn’t something we wanted to do weekly.I used the 30 inch cleat and was able to screw to the studs on the wall with just two screws. I used every screw hole on the back of the mirror out of an abundance of caution.I pre-drilled all of the holes to avoid splitting the mirror’s frame and the wall holes as well to make certain I was getting the studs. I didn’t use the drill bit that came with the kit, but it looks sturdy and will go in my tools. It was easy to install and I feel it will hold well. I was actually very impressed with the ease of hanging once everything was secured. This was my first French Cleat and I think I could use it for other things as well. The stud finder was an huge help and made me feel confident it will hold.

Exactly what I needed to hang a heavy wooden sign
These cleats were the perfect solution for hanging a heavy, custom-built wooden sign off the side of a deck railing. The ability to mount the lower section of the cleat on the railing and then the upper section onto the sign itself made mounting it very simple.

Heavy duty wall hanging option
I was avoiding hanging a very large mirror that my wife and I purchased as I was not certain how the wall could support the weight. The manufacturer sent it with a cable type hanger, and I knew in order to mount this in the position that I wanted to on the wall that cable style hanger would not work. I have hung pictures before with French cleats, but did not think they would be sufficient to bear the weight of this very large mirror - then I found these. These French cleats are very substantial, much more so than the smaller types sold in Home Depot. I used both in order to support this wood back mirror, attaching one on the bottom and one on the top to further distribute the load. As the wall is built from metal studs, I needed to use toggles to fasten this cleat into the wall system. Because these cleats are so substantial, the cleat allowed me to span four metal studs on both top and bottom, easily distributing the weight. I have no doubt that this mirror will never accidentally come off the wall. This is such a great solution for hanging large items on any type of wall.
