Excellent radio, requires some existing knowledge of radios.
I read all the beeping and “not working” reviews and decided to give it a shot anyway. The form factor of this radio was important to me due to a lack of places to mount a larger radio. As others had mentioned, the extension that this radio comes with is NOT SHIELDED so it accepts a lot of interference from ambient signals (causing it to not transmit clearly). One of the solutions to this is as others have said is to add a ferrite choke with a loop in the wire, OR like I did, just buy a shielded cat6 extension (make to female). After I did this, I did notice that about one in 3 tries I was getting the Morse code sounding beeping that others had mentioned. It turns out that this is caused by having a high SWR or grounding issue. I had both. As soon as I corrected the grounding issue, and the high SWR by tuning the antenna, it now works perfectly and I don’t hear the beeping at all.I plan on using this in another vehicle as well. It’s a great radio, the features and form factor can’t be beat for the price. It’s a little sensitive to interference though, but if you correct those issues you won’t have any problems! Hope this is helpful for someone who was tentative like me.

Very happy so far
I haven't had this radio very long, but so far it's performing like I expect a Uniden to perform. I put an SWR meter on it and am getting 1.2:1 on channels 1 and 40, and 1:1 on channel 19 using a Hustler magnet mount antenna. Power meter is showing output of 4 volts just keying the mic without transmitting voice. Slightly higher when talking. I love the small size, it fits between the seat and the console in my Subaru. After reading all the negative reviews it seemed to me that most issues stem from a crappy extension cable for the mic. I didn't need the extension for my application. I ran the power wire straight to the fuse block, but a cigar lighter adapter could easily be wired to it. I don't like the adapters as they tend to back out of the socket when you hit bumps. So far I'm very happy with this radio. I also own a Bearcat 880 and a Bearcat 980 SSB which I have installed in larger vehicles (with more room) with dual antenna systems. If this one ends up doing downhill, I'll update this review.

An awesome CB, radio!
One of the things I like about this radio is the size. It’s tiny. Everything is in the handset. It’s got all the features of a CB, radio and more, including scan capabilities, awesome display, and a quick ability to be able to filter out these long range guys that don’t seem to understand why we don’t allow high power on a CB… It filters in mount right away.I’m gonna order another one of these. The first one failed, but the one they sent to replace it worked great!

Sucks
Earlier this year I bought the full size Bearcat for my truck and tied it into a Pioneer stereo in the dash to fit the Double DIN with great results. So I though this smaller Bearcat would match the quality of the larger Bearcat. This smaller unit doesn't even work without saying "Lo Batt".. after this message if you power off, the unit won't turn on again. I thought it may have been the power source, so I ugraded the wiring. It turned on but still had the "Lo Batt" message & won't power on after disconnecting. Final test, tie the unit directly to the battery rather than and Ignition/accesory (didn't want to do this since the battery dies if you forget to turn the CB off) the CB does not turn on. Frustrated and after wasting a good 4 hours, I give up and request a refund from Amazon. This must be a defective unit right? After reading the reviews, maybe i'm not crazy because a few other have experienced the "Lo-Batt" message. I still need a compact CB Radio for my Jeep, since I bought all the other equipment for the Jeep install. My search is still on.

PSA: some small quirks that are fixable
I love these units. They are perfect for my cramped cabin and allow me to just throw it under the seat but still be able to change channels, adjust volume and squelch, etc. Super easy to use. There is a quirk with the mic cable itself. It looks like it's an Ethernet cable wired in a different way. Anyone that has worked with those will tell you they are prone to picking up noise. I have had several of these units look like they are totally blown when trying to transmit - turns out it's just the mic cable picking up too much interference. Quick fix is to throw a ferrite RF choke on the cable and do a couple loops - that fixed it for me. This is more a problem when using the extension but might be an issue without in certain scenarios. I would guess this is the primary problem most of the 1star "can't transmit" reviewers are running into.

Awesome little radio.
Look I have owned CB radios all my life. I have been a trucker since 1990. I purchased this radio due to its compact size. I wanted it in my new Toyota tundra I use for my work truck now. This was a little on the tookmsome work to install but that is because I am picky and I went out through my firewall to the battery and truck steel mounts for my ground and hid all my wires. The radio works beautiful, its small it fits very nicely unto my pickup and I could not be happier. Coming from me, a diehard Cobra fan. This is a very nice, well working and wonderful featured cb radio.
