Best Post-Shave Ritual Ever …
While searching for a new “flavor” to satisfy my Razorock shaving soap addiction, I saw this product and decided to give it a try. I was not familiar with alum, but I was willing to try something (anything) as an alternative to the face “sizzling” that is associated with most alcohol-infused post-shave ointments and splashes. While the alum still has the sizzle, that sizzle has a purpose. The RAZOROCK ALUM STICK is simply a fat “Chapstick” tube with cylinder or alum salt attached at the base (the cap screws on at the base and covers/protects the cylinder of alum). Using the alum stick is simple: after shaving, rinse your face and rub the alum stick over the areas that you shaved. The stick glides easily across the skin when the skin is wet, so you can either leave the skin wet or keep dipping the alum stick in water before applying (I find that leaving the face wet is easier). Trying to run a dry alum stick on dry skin is akin to sliding a sneaker on asphalt. After painting your face, your done … the salt does the rest … leaving no trace behind. There will be a slight, but brief, burn/sizzle when the salt comes in contact with any nicks or scrapes you have received while shaving (you may not see the nicks, but they are there … and the salt makes you aware of this). The salt absorbs quickly and leaves your skin feeling soft and refreshed. What really sold me on this product was how effectively it “sealed” bleeding nicks. This is the only product I’ve ever used that was able to stop nicks from bleeding. Even better, it is fragrance-free (no cloying cologne or alcohol scent). One of the best attributes of this product is that after using it for three months, the stick looks the same size. It appears that this rock of salt may actually last for years (if not forever). The RAZOROCK ALUM STICK is one of the smartest personal hygiene products I’ve ever purchased … it’s effective, cheap and long-lasting. While it appears to be sold more as a men’s shaving product, I can see this alum stick being equally, if not more, beneficial for women.

very handy to use
This alum stick/block is nicely made, I had a very popular square one, that was a bit cheaper than this one but it would crumble while using it after a while. The one thing I noticed was the cheaper block had imperfection lines going through it with different shades, this one doesn't have that stuff, I don't know if that means anything or not but I do know that after over a month of using it so far it hasn't crumbled. Also, the round end is inserted very firmly into the plastic bottom cap, and that cap gives you something to hold the stick without it being slippery when wet.I gave it no stars for scent because there is no scent. Not sure how long it will last but so far it looks like I haven't even used it! I have a feeling it should last at least a year. These alum blocks pretty much work all the same, they stop any bleeding you might experience with a nick, and it acts like an antiseptic on the face so there is a bit of a sting, but nothing major, and it helps to tighten the pores and skin, they're all natural so there is nothing that will hurt your face. As a bonus, you can also use it as an odorless natural deodorant for under the arms! This is the best alum stick/block I've ever used, they don't get any better than this but they do get more expensive for zero gain.

No frills, gets the job done
This replaced Pinaud Dab-On styptic pencils in my medicine chest about six months ago and I haven't regretted it once. while the dab-on is a pretty good product, this does the job better and faster. I picked it up when I started a brief dalliance with double edge razors a few months back and it proved its worth. While d.e. shaving has its upside in a very close shave and the manly ritual of the brush applied lather the downside, at least for me, was slicing my face open on a regular basis no matter what blade I tried. The cuts were never terribly deep, nicks for the most part really but they bled and that was very inconvenient when dressing for the office with little time to spare. So, it was with great relief that I applied this product and found it did a great job of puckering up the edges of those little cuts and shutting down the bleeding almost immediately. Applying it to the whole face tightens the skin and improves your appearance as well. Just run it under the faucet for a second then rub it all across your cheeks and neck. You won't be disappointed.

Wish that I had used this since my first day shaving
11/10 — such a simple product. I wish I had known about this when I started shaving, I would have a lot less red marks on my face from shaving. This product gently keeps skin dry, closing small woulds. This includes shaving pimples—those things are wounds! You must dry them out as leaving an open would damp is asking for trouble (permanent marks, exacerbation.)Extra notes:- I have sensitive skin- This works better than soap aftershaves which don't fix the problem of drying the wound out to protect it. You don't need to "clean" your skin, you need to protect it. This antiseptic + drying agent of a product does that.- Good value, lasts a good amount of time for price- Use after shaving. Splash face dry with cold water. Wet alum rock. Rub generously over face, I also give my forehead a quick go as I sometimes have (non-shaving) pimples wanting to form there. Let set for 20-30 seconds. Then dab face dry with shaving towel, DO NOT rub your face dry, rubbing is bad for wounds! Dab face dry!- Fairly small for travel use- I think that any one of any age/gender can make use of this excellent product, not harsh or unnatural, just gets the job done and minds its own business.- I highly recommend you buy some shaving towels to go along with this item. They are cheap and useful for many things: http://amzn.com/B00KU25MPG .- Dab face dry!
