Nice Blu-ray DVD CD burner/player
I'm one that still feels the need for a DVD burner in every PC I build. Why? Because I have 100's of CD going back to the mid-80's. Being able to rip them to a music server is important top me.The BDR-212V is a well known and proven quality burner. Installation is as easy as insertion of 4 screws, assuming you have a chassis with 5-1/2" bay open to the front of your chassis. The included software is technically not needed as your operating system will recognize the drive. In Summary: easy installation, suitable for music ripping, file archival and watching your Blu-ray disc on the PC.

Great drive for the money
Love tihs drive. I had bought some cheaper ones and they just never lasted or even worked well from the start. Bought this one for the external enclosure I use in my lab and love it. Quiet, fast. Just works.

Don't waste your money!
I decided to rip my CD collection to the computer, and of course my cd drive didn't work so I tried this one. First, there were some CDs that would have sections of songs all garbled, at first I figured it was dirt/scratches, but couldn't see scratches and I cleaned the heck out of them, no effect. Then I noticed on some songs when played after being ripped would just stop for a few seconds part way through and then continue on, making me have to rip then again. I finally decided maybe both problems were the drive. Sure enough, I bought https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y5K2JCP?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title and both problems gone!Unfortunately this Pioneer junk drive was past the return window so I'm out the money spent. And.. the time I have to spend re-ripping the bad ones I find.Don't make the same mistake!

Read This if Windows is having Problems with Recognizing the Drive
Thanks to some very nice and diligent tech support, we got my problem sorted-out. The drive comes with some burning/authoring software - CDBurnerXP. Whenever I ran it, it would tell me that there was not a compatible drive in the computer, couldn't read the disk, etc. What fixed it is to change the properties of the shortcut to CDBurnerXP to force it to run "As Administrator". (Right click the icon, choose "Properties", then the "Advanced" properties. Check the box that says "Run as Administrator" ). That's it, it recognizes the drive right away and you're off and running.Happy with the drive now and very happy for the tech support from VinPower Digital.
