I use a hybrid picking technique (Flat pick, then use all three remaining fingers on steel string guitars, electric and acoustic, no finger picks). That is hard on your nails, which wear down to nothing in short order. I tried the fake nail thing: too much trouble, and you can't really feel the strings as well. So I experimented an all sorts of clear nail polishes/hardeners, all the Sally Hanson products and several others. i tried generic super glue. This particular Sally Hanson product is the best by a pretty good margin. It does not flake off, and it is SIGNIFICANTLY harder than any other product, last sveral time longer. I does not damage or dry out my nails at all. I get hours of playing out of each application. It is very freeing not to have to limit your technique to keep your nails in order. If you hybrid pick or do fingerstyle without picks, this is the one to try.

I tried it on top of my nail polish but I only let it sit for 2 mins and as soon as I picked something up I smeared it and messed up my nail polish :/ but once it completely dried it made my nail polish look really nice and lasted a long time

When I first opened it I thought it would be a complete bust because it smelled like regular nail polish lol I expected some sort of serum or one of those vitamin lacquers. In their defense, it said it was a top coat polish that helped strengthen nails. Anyways, I work in retail so I spend much time taking hard tags off of clothing and it has absolutely killed my nails. I used to have some pretty good nails without ever putting anything on them. But since I started they've become so flaky and would just lift midway through the day I had to start carrying bandaid with me. I applied this once like 2 weeks ago when it arrived and I haven't had a problem with my nails since. I'm not sure what's in this thing but I know it works. My only downside is the smell, which I did say it smells like regular nail polish, times 10. It's not that much of a problem unless you are planning on sniffing it 5 hours a day.

I used this after I took my acrylic nails off. I have really bendy nails in general and it seemed to semi help. It did make them stronger after about 4 coats but I noticed after 2 or so days of having them on, it would start to flake and peel off. I didn't do any activities that would have made it peel so easily and I was gentle with my nails. For the price if you're looking for something not that strong and not looking to revamp your nails per say then totally get this. I was personally looking for something that would help keep my nails strong. It's okay as a clear coat so I think I'll use it for that until the bottles up.

The box says "base coat" but I actually bought it to use as a top coat! These photos are after one week of use. I work with cosmetic chemicals daily (literally spraying silicone and aluminum powder all over my hands).I used the white polish from the same brand as a base coat, applied a water slide decal, a coat of holographic glitter, and then the sally hansen hard as nails over top. It dries super fast and I'm surprised that my manicure is still mostly in tact! I did the same treatment last week without using this product as a top coat and it was completely ruined within 3 days and my water slide decal lost all color. I really believe the reason my manicure has lasted this long is because of this product.
