A great basic android phone for my great aunt!
I have just finished setting this phone up for a close family member over 90! I'v been very impressed with the additional software and features Doro have added to this basic Android phone. While i don't think she could have set it up herself, for the scenario where a somewhat tech savy person is going to do the initial setup, I would highlight recommend.Doro have added a customised home screen, widgets and apps which making using the phone very easy and straight forward, as well as improving the menus and setup for increasing the size of fonts or icons. The plus pack comes with everything you will need, a case, screen protector and charging stand which can hold the phone without removing the case. The phone itself is a low end spec, and can be a little slow if your used to iPhone's ect, however, for this use case its perfectly fine.

Perfect for technofobes
ProsEasy to setup and simple to use even for the novice mobile user.ConsNo wireless charging and it won't fit the charging cradle unless you buy the Doro case.

Great phone
Bought this for my elderly mum and it was honestly perfect. You just need to make sure you are there for the setup and to help teach them how to use apps etc. If they've never used a smart phone before. You can set massive icons on the desktop so they can access WhatsApp easily. Sound quality on the mic and speakers was fine, battery didn't seem amazing however. Fast phone, it's a bit big for someone who is learning as they can struggle with hand placement but the big screen size is also an advantage.

I can't see why this phone is recommended for elderly that other cheaper phones dont do better
Bought this for my 86yo Mum, who due to a stroke has limited use of her left hand and she was regularly putting her other phones into flight mode(which makes it as useful as a brick) or turning the volume down when she grips them.. this is even worse because the volume buttons and power button, which when all 3 pressed put it into silent mode. Even with the volume buttons disabled, every time she picks it up it is put into silent mode. The volume of the ringer is absolutely no different from a normal phone and way quieter than my google pixel. The app which allows you to get help remotely , is more complicated to access than what it actually allows you to do. So if she turns the volume down, instead of one button to turn it back up, she has to remember which app to press, wait for it to give a number and then navigate through menus to find who to send the request to which then is then sent as a text 🤷. Also it needs wifi so if its in flight mode then it will not work. The sos button on the back is good, but again needs to have a connection. If you want to truly advertise a phone as being easy to use for elderly people then you should consider that most people have mobility issues not just hearing or sight. Remove the volume buttons, allow flight mode to be completely disabled because come on , it is the most crippling of apps and most people will never need to use it.I have ordered the cradle & case seperately so maybe with rhe case on it might be better for her to grip, but if not it'll be returned as not fit for purpose advertised.

Great Mobile for Seniors!
For the price you get the phone, charging cradle and mains power cable. Also, a really nice case for the phone and a good quality Screen protector..Nice and easy to set up with some help from a more experienced mobile user. Lovely quality phone and good screen. This is a great buy for those who have no mobile experience and it's a lovely looking phone.

AVOID! Dangerous and not fit for purpose - Phone should be taken off the market.
DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE - PARTICULARLY FOR ELDERLY OR VULNERABLE PERSONS.Bought this for an elderly relative particularly because it has the 'alert' function, so if the owner has a fall or gets lost, they can press a button and be directed through to their pre-arranged contact. However, the button (which needs to be pressed three times in a succession) is too sensitive and has gone off several times by accident causing a blaring loud alarm at both the owner end and on the phone of the agreed contact. It has gone off when just being picked up for use and also when being carried in a case. Relative got so upset by setting alarm off accidentally so many times that we have had to disable the function - negating the point of getting the phone in the first place. As a couple of other reviews have stated, the connection on the SIM card and SD card is terrible. I've bought three different SD cards for the phone now and none of them are 'recognised'. The SIM card itself slips frequently and loses signal leaving my relative unable to make or receive phone calls or texts... until I travel back there (40 miles) and reinsert the MICRO SIM into the TINY, FLIMSY tray with no idea how long it will stay connected. The battery drains in less than a day and charging is slow. The phone and charger also get VERY hot when charging so be careful. Audio notifications on various apps and messages are erratic.Basically, the whole reason I bought this phone was because it was recommended for elderly people / people with arthritic hands, and it had the safety alert. The phone has actually proven to be more dangerous than a dirt-cheap phone because my relative has been left so many times with no signal and been unable to contact anyone, has no working SIM card, and gets scared half to death whenever the blaring safety alert goes off randomly.Really annoyed because having forked out £200+ for the phone, SIM cards and case, DORO wouldn't deal with me and fobbed me off back to Amazon...and Amazon wouldn't refund until they had received the returned phone. I explained that unless they would refund me so I could BUY A NEW PHONE I'd have to take the phone from my relative, wipe the data, send it back and this would leave my elderly and vulnerable relative without any lifeline at all for the duration of the entire return and reorder period. However, they didn't care and said I had to return it and then buy a new one when they approved the return. They obviously assume I just have another few hundred quid ready and waiting to buy someone a new phone. Thanks, Amazon - I mean you're only the richest company in the world.
