Awesome for Attic !!
Purchased to assist someone on/off the top of the attic ladder. I mounted it to verticle 2x4 that is next to the attic opening, so you need to reach over a couple of inches but it is perfect. When going up it becomes uncomfortable for some once they reach the door panel as it prevents the front of your foot from stepping onto the rung with the ball and arch of your foot - necessitating the need to grab ahold of something just as you begin to run out of ladder to hold onto. Although the hand rail is a few inches to the side, it is perfectly placed to continue up the last 4 rungs while remaining upright - vs either ending up on all fours to come off the ladder, or being precariously perched, doubled over with both hands and feet on the top rung! Naturally going down without the hand rail was just as horrifying - for both the individual and the one watching! Although now it's quite comical, it truly was an unsafe situation. Unfortunately it is typical of most attic access points. And companies addressing it are charging several hundreds of dollars for for a rail quite similar to this one! Actually this rail is even better bc it moves - the mechanism that allows it to fold flat agains the side of your trailer or motorhome works perfectly when needing it out of the way for moving bulky items onto or off of the side of the access way when bringing things up or down. Restricting the movement from the sides was my only concern about adding a rail up top, but the ability to move it out of the way makes it PERFECT!I will definitely be buying another when I find the right RV as well as for future attics.Overall the functionality, build quality, design and installation ease of this rail is great. I definitely recommend it for anywhere a railing would be of assistance.Note, this is NOT built for or meant to be a deterrent and will not hold your weight if leaning against or over it. But it's perfect to steady onself and even to pull yourself up or let yourself down - just like a handrail should.

Some wiggle even with solid attachment to wall
I purchased this handrail to install next to the two steps leading in from our garage to the house. My husband is having issues with his balance and I wanted to give him the opportunity to have something to grab other than the door frame or doorknob to assist him.The rail came fully assembled with simple directions for installation on an RV. I put it up to the door frame and decided on a height that would be appropriate, then marked the three holes at the top and three at the bottom with a pencil, giving me a spot to drill pilot holes.Unfortunately only one of each hole (the furthest to the left) went into a stud. The other four holes needed #10-#12 self-drilling drywall screw anchors (plastic - not included) which I, fortunately, found in my toolbox. NOTE: This handrail is meant to be installed to the left, but I had to install mine on the right side of a door.Once the pilot holes were drilled (I did need to use a larger drill bit than the 1/8" in the directions to get the anchors in) I used a hand-tightening screwdriver to anchor the rail in place, tightening the screws closest to the door frame first and then the other four which had the anchors in the drywall. The attachment to the wall is solid, but there is a wiggle to the rail. This is probably because it does lift and fold to lay flush to the wall if desired. The insert says it's not meant to break a fall, but to provide stability. It's not a banister to slide on, however, it is enough to provide a grab bar and peace of mind for those with balance issues.

Great purchase
We bought this when we bought our new 5th wheel toy hauler due to the amount of steps and not being able to reach the original handle from the bottom of the steps. An amazing difference with this handle! It made it so much easier to get in and out of the camper. Will be purchasing another soon for the other door on our 5th wheel. Lightweight and easy to install in existing holes.

Works Great!
A must have. Very helpful for getting up and down in the trailer and helps stabilize you, getting in and out. Also ensures your door is shut. Great size, works well and very functional.
