The best big screen e ink pdf reader
I used to read with Kindle DX, Kindle Paper White, iPad Air or Galaxy Tab S2. My pdf files are big, mostly textbooks. I have to read on landscape mode and have to zoom in quite often. Since I received my Boox N96ml Carta three weeks ago from Amazon, this has become my preferred device for reading large pdf.fI I give Boox n96ml 5 points for reading pdf big files, Kindle DX would be 3 points, Kindle Paper White would be 3 points, iPad Air would be 4.7 points.Advantage of Boox N96ml Carta would be its 9.7" big screen, and it is e ink, easy for reading compared to iPad. The screen is very responsive to its pen, moving the file on the screen is easy and faster than Kindle Paper White. It has contrast control and bold level control, very useful if your eyesight is weak.It has front light (or back light), it is most useful to make the fonts or drawings stand out on the white screen.iPad is easy to use but it is not e ink. iPad has no contrast and bold control. That's why I give iPad a 4.6 rating compared to 5.0 .If you are reading Kindle books, Kindle would be a better device because you don't need zooming to read a big file.Boox N96ml Carta can be used as a writing pad. I have tried it but don't like this feature.Boox N96ml is an Android device. It is version 4.0, cannot be upgraded and the device is too slow. The Kindle app does not function well in Boox.It is only good if you need a device to read big pdf files. It is also very good for reading text files.

1 is way too old to be useful - can't sync with any Google APIs
I should have waited for the 10.3 note pro that is coming out next month. The fact that they don't keep up with Android versions (4.1 is way too old to be useful - can't sync with any Google APIs...) makes this not worth the money. It is a good size for pdf reading , and works for that, but with the fact that this is an android capable tablet with an e-ink display, the implementation falls short. What is nice is that it is bluetooth capable - the goal for me was to utilize it as a low power portable writing device that synched with google docs, and one I could read ebooks on to replace my kindle. It would be phenomenal if they updating the software to a more recent version of Android, which would bump it up a star for me.

Watch out for the pencil...
It's a great product but my pencil is scratching the screen, leaving clear marks on it.... not good ! I would totally give it a 5 if it wasn,t for that problem

Good, if a bit slow, screen with a perfect size for A4 PDFs in a solid device
I confess I was expecting a bit more responsiveness at first, from my experience with the Icarus eXcel, but after a while I got used to the way this nice (not so) little reader goes. Android is a nice platform for the reader as it allows for some latitude in reading and note taking apps, even though my favourite note taking app does not work well with the pen (the app is called Squid and its eraser button on the back of the pen is not functional).Personal preferences aside, the N96ML is a solid e-reader, a bit hefty for holding on hands for long periods (nothing a nice, sturdy stand like the ones used for tablets can't solve), with a very crisp and clear screen (that could refresh a bit faster, to be honest, but okay, it's not THAT slow). oReader is a good enough reader that made me feel ok not installing something from Google Play beyond the Kindle app for obvious reasons.

It is not cheap, but I am so glad I spent the extra cash to get this large display e-ink reader.
It is not cheap, but I am so glad I spent the extra cash to get this large display e-ink reader. I am used to reading hard cover books or textbooks, and I would NOT have been happy with a small paperback book sized e-ink ereader, which are typically 6-8 inches (max). The Onyx Boox N96 ML Carta + is one beautiful piece of kit. Heretofore, I had been reading electronic books on my laptop computer, and it was taking a toll on my eyes (eyestrain and headaches). What an epiphany it has been, to switch to the N96 ML Carta +. In fact, it is so much like reading a real book that I have literally caught myself subconsciously moving my hand to flip a page...forgetting that it was an electronic device, and I just need to push a button. This version requires the utilization of the electromagnetic stylus to select options on the touchscreen/display. In other words, it is not dual touch (stylus or finger) with capacitive screen. However, the stylus-only model that I selected (N96 ML Carta +) has a front-light, which was a more important feature, for my needs. However, I can see the need to have a back-up stylus on hand...as one would pretty much be "up the creek", if the included stylus was lost or broken.

I love the ideas of e ink but this is not ...
Bought solely for the purpose of reading technical PDFs. Formatting the pdf is a pain and there’s significant lag. I love the ideas of e ink but this is not priced according to its capabilities

Good e-ink reader + writing device!
I really like it! I’m using as a scratch paper during the flight. Pen does not respond super fast but fast enough to give me a comfortable writing experience. LED light is good, helps a lot during night flights and battery last forever. I was looking for a no touch screen with pdf reader and written, it fits perfect for what I need.
