It is size TINY , very small . My daughter and her boyfriend bought this as a temporary couch . When it arrived it was so small that all they could do was laugh . hysterically for a long time lol It is more like a very large dog bed /dog couch lol

do you need to assemble the whole thing?

All you have to do is screw on 2 wheels and 2 of the legs then slide the arms tests in place and done. Its so easy. But terribly well made and not that comfy but easy to assemble

When I assembled, will this fit through a 28" doorway?

Its smaller than it looks so it may. But the thing comes in pieces and the sides just slide on and off no tools needed so just take them off if needed and it should get through no problem. Assembly is as easy as they come. My biggest complaint is it isn't very comfortable

Does the pull out part of bed locks into anything so they don't separate?

The bottom pulls out and has hinges to keep it in place. It is very small and not very comfortable. You can feel the boards.
