Great Grind For Pour Over
I got this on sale for $15 with the intention of being able to grind my coffee for my 4 cup Mr Coffee Flat Bottom Drip Coffeemaker that I use on the road in my truck. I was elated when I realized that the finest grind setting results in a grind close to the size of kosher salt. To me and my coffee loving sister it is a good ground size for pour over coffee even though the description says otherwise. The description is accurate in stating not for espresso or Turkish coffee.I have not experienced the large pieces or whole beans that some have complained about. I do reset it as the directions instruct every time I use the grinder. We were both pleased with the results when used in our OXO pour over coffeemakers. Now I can have freshly ground coffee for my favorite pour over method as well as for my drip coffeemaker. For me it's one of the little things I do to make life on the road more enjoyable. This grinder is perfect for traveling as the small size makes it very portable. Great for motels, dorm rooms, and rving and OTR trucking. For less than $25 , I would give it more than five stars if I was able.

Non-uniform grind
Purchased this grinder to make course grind coffee. Results were mixed course and very fine particles. Had to strain coffee after brewing to eliminate fine grinds. The picture is the second filter the coffee ran through with particles that were passed through first filter basket. Would not recommend this grinder due to inconsistent results.

First grinder; I'm satisfied.
I'm satisfied and feel this is a good value. If you want an indestructible electric grinder that will last your life time, you'll have to pay substantially more. It seems other electric grinders costing 10 times as much still die within a year or two.My first coffee grinder. Only other experience is grinder at the grocery store and cheap blade grinder. Bought this instead of a manual grinder, because I use a French press; no espresso. Has flat metal burrs. I used it twice near the coursest setting. Makes nice big chunks and some fine powder that sticks near the top of the catch; I scraped the fines into my French press. Guesstimate 95% course grounds and 5% fine powder. I didn't notice any sludge on the bottom of my cup after drinking French press coffee and cold brew coffee using French press. Fresh course ground french press coffee tastes great.Even if this dies in a year after grinding lets say 50 hoppers full of beans, I think I'll be satisfied for what I paid.

I got this as a first approximation to coarse grind coffee for a french press. Works.
Main positive features: Cheap and reliable. If used with paper filter in a french press coffee maker, there is less than a gram/pot (5T coffee) of residue. Two pots of coffee worth of grounds per grind. Fast.Disappointed: However, cafestol (the thing in coffee that causes blood LDL rise in coffee) is in the residue. See following abstract:"Is cafestol retained on the paper filter in the preparation of filter coffee?"Food Res Int. 2017 Oct;100(Pt 1):798-803. doi: 10.1016/j.foodres.2017.08.013. Epub 2017 Aug 5.Rendón MY1, Dos Santos Scholz MB2, Bragagnolo N3.You can see that abstract on Pubmed for free. The bean hopper is tiny and beans spill around. Also, the coffee bin is futzy.Concern: I bought this burr grinder to eliminate fines for French Press brewing. It probably reduces them, there remain about 1 tsp fines/pot of coffee. The grounds tub comes in and out with some difficulty. If you force it it feels like it might break. That hasn't happened yet. Also, the grounds tub tends detaches at the bottom during operation. I have considered holding it in place to see if fewer fines result.

Good for the price. Makes consistent grinds as many of the higher priced burr grinders
I have used many different burr grinders, expensive ones like the Encore and Bodum, and cheaper ones like this one and another Italian named one that is no longer made. To tell the truth, this burr grinder is about as good as the rest in terms of grind consistency and coarseness range. I do pour overs and set it to a medium coarse grind on light to medium roast coffee beans. You just find the grind size that works for you and keep it that way until you change your roast.I consistently get 95%+ consistent grinds with my beans. Very little powdering and off size pieces. I can't complain because I feel like it's about the same on the Encore and Bodum, perhaps with less powdering. I have a $100 one that does the same exact job and gives me the same range of consistency and coarseness... for $16 I can definitely live with it.Sure it's not as nice looking and built as nice as others but it does the job well for what it is. I do pour overs with a V60, Chemex, and for ease of use a Melitta.

Not The Worst...
This works okay for coarse grinding, but that’s about it. Also, it’s impossible to clean (which you definitely need to do after a while) without completely disassembling it, which is also nearly impossible (by design). Even putting it back together meticulously, the dial never matched up to any of the coarseness settings again. Also, after all that it still didn’t get that clean. I don’t know why people think coffee grinders don’t need cleaning but coffee beans are quite oily, which of course goes rancid eventually. Anyway, if you’re on a budget it’s an okay starter buy but I’d recommend saving up for a somewhat nicer (and definitely conical bore) grinder - there are some good ones that aren’t too much more expensive.

Great Consistency with a Tip
I've been using this grinder for 6-months to make single serving french press coffee. I've been impressed with the results cup after cup particularly at this price point. The catch container can be a bit fiddly to put on, but otherwise it has been consistent with the coarser grind required.A tip that can help for those dealing with fine grounds getting through. Before using, slightly dampen the lid of the catch container. Doesn't need to be dripping wet, a little moisture will do. When you grind the coffee, the fine particles will stick to the lid of the catch container rather than falling into the coffee grounds. Easy solution and works great!
