Philips Norelco Shaver 5400, Rechargeable Wet & Dry Shaver with Pop-Up Trimmer, S5880/81

Very good, close shave for the price. Wet/dry easy cleaning is super convenient. Battery lasts substantial amount of time. Charges fairly quick. Wish the entire head came off for safer transportation but I've traveled with it internationally and it holds up well. Feels good/solid in the hand. Veryyy close shave, sometimes my "5 o'clock shadow" doesn't show up until the next night. Highly suggested to all. Great value.

I've used both Norelco razors as well as foil razors and while my Braun series 9 gave a very close shave for most of its life, I found that it took time to get all the stubble because it's just not as good at contours and especially hair that's growing in a different direction. With a rotary Norelco razor it may not get quite as close, but shaving is MUCH faster now, and at least for me I don't experience any irritation. Another benefit of a rotary razor is that it deals much better with both longer stubble (always a pain with the Braun) as well as hair growing in different directions. This is obviously a mid tier model, but I think the value for money is really solid. If you've got scratch to burn, sure get a $300 razor but I think this is a great compromise between cost and function.

UPDATE #2: I am generally happy with this product. However, for those who consider to buy it, please keep in mind that you need to remove the blades, and clean them thoroughly after each use. It takes around 4-5 minutes, but if you don't clean, the efficiency of the shaving drops significantly! I wish it had a better or faster way to clean those blades, but it is what it is. Because of this issue, I am dropping it to 4 stars.UPDATE: After using the product for a couple of months, I can confidently say that this is a great product. The battery lasts forever considering my usage. I believe, I only charged it twice so far but I had many shaves. Please keep in mind that if you don't clean the blades, it'll lose effectiveness! Since it's washable, I suggest at least once a week, wash the blades and let it dry. I still like the dry shaving more and my skin got used to the machine, but you have the option of wet shave. I will update again if I see something really bad.I was not expecting such a great quality, to be honest. I've been using palm shavers for my head, and I shave like 2-3 times a week. Every time I used my shaver, which is an affordable brand that I got from Amazon, I had skin burn. It doesn't bother too much but after shaving with Philips, I was so mad at myself for not buying it earlier.The design is very modern and useful. I liked the material. I have not tested the longevity of the battery but from other reviews, I got the feeling that it lasts long enough. I had a dry shave and it was veeery smooth. Cleaning the blades was pretty easy.One of the cons I noticed was that it left hair under my chin and I had to go over and over. It caused a little skin irritation. That might be because I didn't shave with the right angle but I'll keep an eye on it. Another thing is I strongly suggest you shave for the first time when you'll stay inside. It's because your skin will need to adjust to the new shaver so it may get more red than usual.I'm very happy with this purchase and shaved my head very easily. I almost look like a sphynx cat or a lantern visible during the day lol. I strongly recommend this product to everyone.

Great performance -- fast, quiet and close cut.Love it because I had been using their cheaper $25 version which took forever because I had to keep retracing the area to get close sgave.
