Not Without It's Flaws
This is the best drill guide I've found. I like the fairly smooth up/down operation. I love the limit knobs on each rail, and the limit knob on the drill attachment portion as well. Yes, the bearings in the unit are smooth and transfer energy from the drill very well. But mine tightened up on me. I don't know if I tightened the drill bit onto the chuck too tightly. I just firmly snugged the drill bit on there with the key . . . not sure. But I had to loosen the nut on the top to get it to spin smoothly again. It has it's issues, but still the best one I could find. Curious how it holds up over a lot of use.

Quality machinery
This is a well designed and built drill guide. Works well and has a good range of cut.

Pretty handy tool
I build high in staircases and sometimes a plum hole can be required for proper fitment. This device works well drilling a hole perpendicular to the surface. The product is a quality product. I can’t find anywhere on it where it is manufactured, but by the quality I’m assuming it’s in the USA it’s a Rockler product.

Nice while it lasted
I've used a couple of drill guides in my shop. It's something I have found essential, because I can take a guide in the field, unlike a drill press. This guide seemed very well engineered compared to others I've used; however, after it was out of warranty (of course), the chuck completely broke off of the thing. It just snapped off. That was pretty disconcerting, and also put me in a bind because I need a drill guide very often for work. To make matters worse, I contacted Rockler who was happy to take my money for a new chuck, and then inform me that they are backordered. That was over a month ago, and I have not heard a peep despite the fact that the entire guides are obviously in stock. So the customer service is definitely lacking with this company. Because I've been without my Rockler guide for over a month now, I've had to revert back to my old Milescraft that I replaced with what I thought was a better option (at 4X the price too) Guess what? Not only has the Milescraft outlived the Rockler, it's continuing to perform well for me. Maybe I should have stayed with the already proven product, instead of spending over $200 for a guide that didn't last nearly as long, and another $100 for a part I'm relatively sure I'm never going to see at this point.

Better than a drill press
This tool is very well made, very sturdy, heavy duty, smooth movement, I just can’t say enough good things about this tool. I definitely think this tool is better than a conventional drill press as it can move anywhere you need it, adjusts with ease and is compact in size. Absolutely a great design.
