This is required when using the Fokey mount that came with my cam. The design doesn’t allow enough room between the camera and the mount for the mount to swivel appropriately. This kit included a straight micro USB port which may work with other mounts.

I have purchased 3 of these for dash cams in 3 different vehicles. The dash cam in all vehicles is the same type - BlueSkySea B1W dashcam. In two of the vehicles, when simply supplying ACC (switched +12V battery) power to the unit (vehicle engine not running, key in ACC position), the dash cam does not receive adequate voltage to stay on. Turning the car engine on causes the dash cam to operate properly; this typically raises the electrical system voltage to >13VDC.This symptom indicates either a very poor/inefficient voltage regulator (a good 5VDC IC regulator should easily work with +9V input) or there are large resistive voltage losses in this hardwire kit's cable. The supply cable (which connects the unit to the vehicle +12V supply) is long with fairly small gauge wire for its length.I'll check the cable impedance when I get home today, as well as measure the input voltage when it stops working, and update this review. I don't have a micro USB connector to measure the actual output voltage at the output.
