Perfect Fit/Quality for young catcher with room to grow!
This set fit our 9yo son perfectly, while still giving him plenty of room to grow! We had purchased a much more expensive set for him (different brand) that was supposed to be “top of the line”...and while the quality of the other set was great, they only offered 1 Youth size that supposedly spanned from age 9-16. Their “one-size-fits-all” approach did not work for our 4’5” / 78 lb agile catcher. So we had to send the other set back. Our son has a notoriously large head (wears the same fitted hat size as his dad), so the reviews about this set’s “small/tight fitting” helmet made us nervous. But those other people must have gotten another helmet than we did, bc our son was able to put on the helmet with a perfect fit straight out of the box. There is even room to loosen the straps if needed in the future. We put him through several pop-up drills having him throw off the helmet/mask, and it comes off clean/smooth every time without releasing any snaps.Regarding other review comments about lack of helmet padding, our son had read the reviews with me and the first thing he said about this helmet was “there’s plenty of padding! Looks at all this.” He has worn 2 other helmets before (1 higher end, 1 lower end) while playing travel ball year round (1.5 yrs as of now) with catcher as his primary position. He’s the one who had to wear it, so if it’s good enough for him, it’s good enough for me.Hopefully this review will help some others who have some of the same questions/concerns about size, fit, and padding that we did.

New Catcher Gear for 10U
Received the LS catcher gear this weekend. I was initially concerned w the comments that the helmet was too small. My son is 9 years (10U) and wanting to really give Catching a shot this season after warming up to it for five or so games last season.Fit:My son is 4'8" and 93lbs. He wears a S/M youth fitted cap.The gear fits him perfectly and the helmet is comfortable. I actually loosened it because it did appear too small, but when I did, he complained it was too loose so there is some room for him to grow into it some. My guess is that we could use this helmet for the Spring and Fall season in 2021 before having to upgrade the helmet to something larger. We might make it to 12U but doubt it.In terms of the chest protector and legs, I think we will keep it as long as wear and tear allows. From the other boys who have this set, it has lasted at least two seasons.

Comfortable and fits well
This was for my 10 year old son. He was using the team's loaner gear and the velcro kept popping off. So we purchased this for him. The metal hooks were a big selling point for this set. We spent about 20 minutes practicing and adjusting the knee pads every few throws until they were comfortable and stayed put. Then the hooks make sure every time he puts the pads on they're already adjusted perfectly. He can gear himself up in under a minute and they never pop off behind the plate. He doesn't strip his face mask off to catch fly balls. I'm not sure if the mask is a bit hard to get free or if he just doesn't like to.

My daughter loves it!
My daughter plays accelerated softball and had a cheaper Wilson brand catcher's gear when she first started 12U. She's now regularly playing catcher on her team and doing lots of tournaments so I wanted to upgrade her catcher's gear. I bought her the newer Mizuno Samurai Youth set but since she's a little smaller for 11 years old the leg guards bunched up a lot in the knee/thigh area and didn't work for her and the chest guard came up too high into her neck. The helmet also was too big and moved too much. Her team bought a Easton Youth Elite X set, leg guards fit good but chest guard was too big, and helmet was too big. She got hit in the face guard and the helmet spun sideways on her during practice. I read good reviews about this Louisville catcher's gear set working good for smaller sized players and gave it a try and my daughter loves it! The leg guards fit snug and have good protection. The chest guard fit awesome, but it is a little thinner than other brands (Mizuno, Easton, All Star) so far it's enough to protect her though. She's caught pitches from girls throwing 60-70 mph and got hit in the chest and was fine. The helmet also fits really good for smaller heads. If you player is on the smaller side it's probably better to try this set than others until they grow more. My daughter will probably outgrow this set my age 13 and then will finally probably be big enough to upgrade to other brands. After a season and 5 tournaments the stitching and everything is holding up really well. Would highly recommend for city league play and 10U/12U accelerated league, would not recommend using past that into 14U.

Good little starter kit!
Did my research on taking measurements and originally ordered the Intermediate set from a different supplier using those measurements. Everything except the helmet was way too large and we had to return it. Unless you have a larger child, I would go by the age ranges over the measurements. Youth is ages 9-12 and Intermediate is ages 12-15. I was able to find the Youth set sold by Amazon for cheaper, so jumped on it. We are very happy with the packaging and the look of the equipment. It took about 30 minutes of adjusting straps and such to get it to fit, but looks great on our little catcher, with a lot of room for growth.Only cons would be it doesn't come with a bag for the gear or a dangling throat guard (required by most Little Leagues now).

Making adjustments is super easy, and they stay in place
My son is 10 and 4'1. So he's small for his age in general; finding him gear that would fit properly was quite the task. This is definitely it. Making adjustments is super easy, and they stay in place. He understands why he's the only one that can wear it now and it's so much easier to move around than the gear the league has (it's meant for bigger kids in all aspects). The reviews are really what sold me on it and they were right.Only complaint is the 'johnson" protector is velcro; it came off once, but I think that was a user thing, not necessarily the gear itself. Other than that, no complaints and 5 stars all the way around.
