A must have fitness guide for average gym rat
The media could not be loaded. This book has quickly become an essential part of my workouts. It is well-structured, making it easy to navigate whether you're a complete beginner or looking to refine your training techniques. One of its strongest points is the clear, detailed illustrations showing exactly which muscles are being worked in each exercise. This visual approach not only makes it easy to understand but also helps with proper form, reducing the risk of injury. I appreciate the chapters dedicated to common injuries and the variations in technique based on different body types. The language is easy to understand, making it a great resource for those looking to build a solid foundation in fitness. I come back to it every time I want to create my new workout routine or when I have a small injury.Overall, this is a fantastic guide for anyone looking to start or refine their fitness journey. A must have for any gym enthusiast, highly recommended!

Amazing
Incredible illustrations and full of really informative text. Perfect for anyone who is aiming to build muscle from beginners to advanced lifters like me. Studying this book helps you to visualuse exactly what is happening with your muscles, connective tissues and bones when you lift which for me helped a lot with mind muscle connection which is often difficult to master. Totally recommend this amazing book.

it's incredibly useful when you work your behind off and know EXACTLY ...
I need to take protein shakes after reading this stuff.Seriously tho, it's incredibly useful when you work your behind off and know EXACTLY what you're working (and what you're missing!!)The ONLY book you need if you had to go to a remote island and cut up coconut trees with your bare hands and shaved them down to dumbells and an Olympic bar.

Knowledge is Power!
They say that "Knowledge is Power" and with "Sports Training Anatomy" that's exactly what the author gives you.I came back to strength training in April after being away for almost 25 years and while I still remembered many of the exercises I used to do in my twenties I couldn't remember exactly which group of exercises were for what.At this point I have to say I am extremely grateful for all the advice given to me by Michelle, the senior trainer at Bridges Gym, as well as a few of the regular members, who have all contributed in some way to my muscle building/weight loss program, but I'm sure I would still be confused as to the vagaries and actual workings of what and how had I not bought this book.In many ways it has become "my bible for a new body",a reference book I refer to continually, either for reassurance that I'm doing an exercise correctly to hit the right muscle or muscle groups or before I alter my training program in any way to make sure that any new exercises are still hitting the same muscles, only from a different angle. The authors superb, anatomically correct drawings, which strip away the skin to show every muscle, ligament and tendon, to show in clear detail exactly what muscle your working and how, primary and secondary, during specific exercises and there are dozens to choose from whether you prefer machine work, free weights or both.By careful study you can avoid wasted energy and effort by doing different exercises that actual work the same muscle groups. This can also prevent over-training and injury. Each section of the book is clearly labelled and includes stretching and injury prevention work.Several members at my gym have already seen and bought this book and I'm sure that more will follow. All in all an excellent book that's good for beginners and experts alike.

READ THIS FIRST: The defining text on correct form, technique and posture which you MUST own
I cannot say anything original that has not already been said by other reviewers here, but there is a reason this book is in #1 spot for weight lifting and training theory. I was given the heads up on this book by reading Michael Matthew's "Bigger, Leaner, Stronger" (which I've reviewed seperately and consider to be an extermely poor resource on the same subject), and have loved every page. It is set out superbly, with colour coding and excellent drawings, and is the NUMBER ONE resource for correcting positioning, technique, posture and method whilst emphasising injury limitation. The book really comes into it's own where you might be seeking alternatives to certain movements, and as the book is divided into body part sections you can always choose a new exercise from its pages and understand whether it will help you target your chosen body part effectively. I have, since paying attention to Delavier's clear writing and superb cross-section illustrations, corrected my form on a great number of movements which is all the more important as I train at home in my purpose-built gym, and therefore cannot benefit from expensive PTs at the local gym.It gets even better when you purchase this fundamental exercise guide together with Delavier's separate Strength Training Anatomy Workout #1, which for me is the defining text on home gym workouts using nothing more complex than dumbbells, barbells, body weight and resistance bands together with chairs and your bed.Do not delay and add these two Delavier books to your collection today - you will NOT regret it.
