Durable and no more tangles
I tried several different rotating collars on a stationary pole with no luck. The flags would still wrap up. These rotating poles finally resolved the tangling flag problem once and for all. We have used them in all weather for four years and they still work as well as the day we got them.

It really works!!! See tips for a beautiful flag setup
You wouldn't believe (or maybe you would) all the things I've tried to get our flag to not wrap around itself when hanging from our attic windowsill. I finally decided to take a chance on this. From the negative reviews, i was afraid I would be disappointed yet again, but no, it has worked perfectly. Over 2 hours without wrapping would have been a record, so imagine how excited I was to go out and check every few hours the first day and find it never wrapping. Once we replaced the damaged plastic bracket with the Valley Forge metal bracket, we were able to hang the flag for several days without it wrapping once. And then it had to start storming on Flag Day. :-(Two things I have done differently: I use those rotating rings that came with our old flag pole. I also used split rings (the kind on key rings) to attach to the flag grommets and the clips of those rotating rings. That was the hardest thing to do, wrangling those rings open enough to get over the grommets, but my hope was to allow more freedom for the flag to hang without being impeded--because the clips on the rotating rings can get caught in the ring in an awkward way. Without the extra ring, I'm not sure how well the flag would hang freely.Other thing I did--as I read in a review here--was to use LocTite on the threads of the two pieces of the flagpole. Handyman (who put the bracket in our brick windowsill) told me that what I have is more like a Crazy Glue so it will be permanent. That's what I wanted, so no problem.Let me say one other thing: I purchased the Annin Flagmakers 3x5 Nylon SolarGuard flag and asked the Amazon community if I should purchase the 5-foot rotating flagpole and was told yes. But when I set it up and hung it from our attic window, the flag was much too big for it and kept hitting the side of the house and did indeed wrap upon itself. Thankfully Valley Forge let me exchange it for the 6 foot pole and now it's absolutely perfect and beautiful. I thought a 6 foot flagpole would look too large, but it's actually quite proportional considering the size of the flag and how high it's displayed on the house. So here's what we've got and what we highly recommend (after this flagpole):Flag: Annin Flagmakers Model 2460 American Flag 3x5 ft. Nylon SolarGuard Nyl-GloBracket (using better screws meant for brick):Valley Forge, American Flag, Aluminum Bracket White Powder Coated, 2-Position Pole HolderFlagpole rings: Valley Forge Flag 1-Inch Diameter Rotating Mounting Rings, 2-PieceAnd then some split rings which I took off a couple of cheap key rings.NOTE: I would not display the flag in bad weather, so can't speak to how well this works in high winds. Since we're in Tornado Alley, I use the same precautions with the flag as I do with anything that can be brought in from outside.

Meh. Old Glory deserves better.
This review is for the "Valley Forge Flag 2-Piece 6-Feet Brushed Aluminum Spinning Flag Pole." Judging by the pictures & descriptions, I am fairly certain this is the same pole (or at least extremely similar) also sold under the "Grace Alley" name.Let me being my review by clarifying a couple of things I have seen discussed in both the questions & reviews.1) This product is MADE IN CHINA. It says so in the item description, as well as on the product itself.2) No mount is included with this product. It is simply the pole, and a couple of devices by which to attach the flag to the pole. You will have to purchase a mount separately. I purchased this one, which has worked well & fits the pole for which this review is written:https://smile.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000LNTRGO/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1I have now owned & used this product continually for 1 year, in which it has been mounted outside in MN and never taken in.This flag pole is generally a terrible piece of crap. Probably about what you would expect from a $20-25 made-in-China "tangle free (Ha ha)" flag pole. The first one I ordered arrived to me already broken because there was zero extra padding in the box, which was far too large for the product anyways. The wimpy plastic bearing races had been smashed, allowing the teeny tiny ball bearings to go everywhere and ruining the free-spinning feature for which I had purchased the pole. Amazon obviously gave me an exchange hassle-free (as always, top-notch CS), but I was already concerned about the durability of a product which would be in use outside 24/7/365 in the sometimes windy & harsh & butt-cold climate of Minnesota. The replacement pole arrived quickly and without damage. It is worth noting that the pole is a 2-piece affair, with a plastic threaded affair joining the two halves just below the rotating (upper/top end) part. This keeps shipping size down, and would allow for easier storage if you choose to take the flag & pole down. The pole material is aluminum & they are hollow. Given a stiff enough wind I would expect them to bend or break. So far so good for me, though, having faced a very rare gust up to ~60mph, but usually no more than a light breeze gusting to 20mph.Here are where my problems began. The device by which the flagpole rotates to "eliminate tangles" is as follows. The upper/top part/end of the pole is really two poles: one "core" pole which threads into the bottom half, and a "sleeve" around the "core," which is attached to & rotates around the "core" by means of two small, fragile, cheap bearings; one at the top and one at the bottom of the upper pole half. Now, in principle this is a brilliant design. It ought to rotate freely, and keep the flag pretty tangle-free, even righting itself after the flag has folded over on the pole. Mine did do this - for a while. However, come spring, after facing a very very cold winter with temps dipping to -25 and blustery winds, I noticed that the flag was tangling more often. Upon closer inspection, I found that the aforementioned cheap little plastic bearings had cracked & broken, and all the ball bearings had escaped. So now, the "sleeve" still rotates around the "core" of the pole, but not smoothly, thus causing the flag to tangle more often and worse than before. It generally will no longer free itself from a tangle, either. The way in which one attaches the flag to this pole is definitely quite odd. Other reviewers and q/a responses have touched on this already & so I will simply say I echo their sentiments. Instructions would be REALLY helpful here, but are not included. I've made it work for me, and others have as well. YRMV____________________________SO.Does this pole hold my flag out from my deck? Yes.Does it rotate? Yes, kind of. It rotated better before it broke. Is it attractive? Relatively. The pole itself isn't unattractive; it is plain, which is actually good in this application. The "chrome" ball at the top is the worst bit, appearing obviously very cheap. Is it sturdy? Depends which part you're talking about. The pole itself has been fine, but the bearings which are key to the "tangle-free" system are definitely NOT.Is it "tangle-free"? Mostly. I suspect no flag pole is truly 100% "tangle-free."Is it a good value? Not really. A solid pole would be much cheaper, and likely problem-free, even tho it would wrap up more. Is a product a good value if it breaks, but you didn't pay much for it? IMO, no.Would you buy this product again? NO. I think I could probably make a far more durable "tangle-free" pole on my own (and I've actually thought about the design & execution - that's not just bluster) for about $10-15 more, and eventually I'll probably do just that.Your experience with this product may be more positive than mine, but hopefully my experience can inform your decision on purchasing this product for yourself. I suspect it is so popular because there aren't many, if any, similar alternatives.

Get the additional mounting rings with this pole and you will be happy.
The pole is great and will perform as mentioned in the description; but with some tweaks. The pole came with an affixed clip on the top to attach to the flag grommet to. The pole also came with 2 inexpensive mounting rings.I also purchased the 2 "higher quality" rings that are recommended at checkout on here. The reviews were mixed on what was included and what wasn't in this listing so I opted to be safe and ordered a pair of the extra rings.Initially, I attached my American Flag to the clip that was affixed to the top of the pole and used only 1 of the 2 additional rings that I purchased. The setup performed well for the most part but on really windy days, the flag would still double over and/or get wrapped & stuck. After a couple of weeks of tweaking & unwrapping the flag here and there, I decided to add the 2nd ring to hold the top grommet instead of using the top clip that comes with the pole.It has been a couple of weeks and I have yet to "fix" my flag do to the wind or weather. My issue and rating with the company is that since I purchased the 2 extra rings, sold by the same company for this pole, why wouldn't the needed grommet rings come with the initial pole purchase? Why include inferior components with a quality products?Do yourself a favor and buy the quality rings along with this pole. It will save you time & patience.Once you do mount it with the proper components, I do not think that you will be disappointed.-Hg

Great flag pole
Replace my flag pole with this spinner pole. Love it👍 The second pole was for my son’s yard. He is very pleased with it as well!

Meant for sleeved flags
This pole is clearly meant for sleeve - not grommet - flags, as it DOES NOT come with any clear or unclear plastic rings, either separately or on the pole. Otherwise it looks OK, but I doubt its longevity, since the joint between the two pole pieces is all plastic.

Not aluminum but plastic
I thought this flagpole was "brushed aluminum" but it is merely plastic with a shiny plastic ball at the end of it. Not impressed whatsoever.
