This is a large sack of coal ladies and gents and very good quality. I can tell there is a bit of dust at the bottom but i am going to get a lot of low and slows out of this, i can tell right away this will be good for grilling to. For the 20 quid i paid this is a coal i will be buying as much as i can get. As someone who bbq's almost daily and has had to use a huge variety of briquettes and lumpwood this does stand apart a bit.I was in a rush to test it out yesterday and whacked a beercan chicken on with hickory chips, this coal was eyebrow raising in the quality of the cook. I basically left it to it's own devices more than you would a quality weber briquette etc. This was on a weber 57cm and the consistency of the colour showed how the heat had dispersed at a consistent rate and circulated in the same manor. Sorry to go all geeky but the scientists here will know a consistent heat will produce a consistent circulation. If you are entertaining or getting the garden done this lumpwood would not have you crapping it going back to check every 10mins through the vents.I should note this is my first purchase so can't comment on consistency of product. Very consistent burn and very long lasting, i can't ask for more as a a regular bbq lover.

Perfect for cooking on coal
Great for charcoal bbq. No paraffin smell. Bit more expensive than usual charcoal, but definitely worth it.

Good BBQ charcoal
Good quality mixed size charcoal that once lit is great, no nasty smell or taste of fuel to worry about, once lit just top up as necessary

one of the best and "natural" charcoals available
This is one of the best lump charcoals out there. If doesn't have the chemical smell and holds it's temperature very well.I used it for a slow cooking pork shoulder over 7 hours at 140 Celsius. Checked the temperature every 40 minutes or so with a top up every 90 minutes or so (make sure you lite up the charcoal first before adding it)Will use again.. worth the extra few pounds...

Pretentious Sack of Chips
I've been sampling all the "restaurant quality" charcoal I can find and this sadly is the worst. Given it is very expensive and branded by a big player in the ceramic smoker BBQ business I expected high end. Sadly the pieces are tiny for lumpwood and the sack has a lot of annoying dust.Badly shipped bags have a mix of large and small pieces where some large pieces survive but 50% are broken. This had no large pieces. The bag was in good condition, so breakage was unlikely. It smells of ripping off customers with the famous name and high price tag.Equivalent to your supermarket bag it will suffice for a open coal burger and sausage day, but for serious smoking and the premium BBQ my advice is to buy something else in this market with no branding, just a bag of quality.

You have a BGE? buy this charcoal.
Really good quality charcoal and perfectly cut up for use in the BGE.. costs a lot compared to the discount shops, but for real, you get what you pay for. Especially if you have a BGE, you'd be sizzlin some Iberico pork, or some quality aged Angus Ribeye on the bone, perhaps even a chalans duck hung off the top.. why skim on the core component - the fire and smoke adds to the quality produce on the grill. Also it's very easy to light.

Absolute rubbish. Do not buy
The largest piece of lumpwood was approximately 4cm square. That was the largest. Most were much smaller than that so completely useless

Excellent BUT..
In some respects the best charcoal I’ve used and some ways the worst. My experience was about 10 large pieces in the top of the bag followed by 90% chips. The flavour was excellent and burn was too but I found it didn’t produce prolonged heat in a Weber kettle type and I’ve got through the bag much quicker than usual. I won’t buy again unfortunately
