95cm Octabox Softbox & Grid | Bowens Mount | LuxLight® | Umbrella Octobox

I write as someone who has had plenty of portraiture practice and is just starting a portrait business....This is easy to assemble and dismantle; the umbrella arrangement is dead easy. It is made with good quality material and although I am sure there are better softboxes around, this is more than good enough for me.It needs a bit of a push to get the umbrella into place but then it does have to tension a fairly large amount of material. It is light enough and I would agree with some reviewers that the Bowens mount does not go on as easily as I would like but this is a minor quibble. Once it is fixed on, it is very secure.It produces a lovely soft, even light (tested by taking a photograph of it head on) and I have been delighted with the results, particularly for butterfly lighting. I have used it with mains-powered studio strobes and out and about with the Pixapro Pika200 (NB: that light is absolutely superb) with the bare bulb. The light is not quite as even using a speedlight fresnel head but that is to be expected. It is still marvellous.The vents are a nice touch, as modelling lamps get a bit hot after a while.

I have been a professional photographer for over 20 years i have spent a fortune on equipment. Cant believe how good this soft box is for the price. so simple to use it pops open like an umbrella unlike many others i own that require rods to be inserted and the brute force to get the rods into the adaptor, i have an assistant that hasn't got the strength to dismantle the other soft boxes so a lot of the time the stay up in the car. This Lux light soft box is ridiculously easy to put pop up and pop down and goes back in the bag much better than competitors where you can't even get the zip closed. Light through the diffuser seems very crisp and the grid is very useful for strong directional light. Can safely say i will be replacing my others in the future with more of these as there are many different sizes and shapes to choose from. Very robust and well made, look as though they will last a long time. Doesn't feel low budget like other well known low price products infact feels very high end. Excellent product all round.

Octabox itself very easy to put up and take down.Outer seems very well made and sturdy.Inner diffusion on the one I recieved had a missing clip for attaching it to inside of octabox. This was quickly resolved by Amazon. Unfortunately the seller then contacted me also offering to rectify the very small issue but I'd already gone through the process with Amazon.Seller sent out the missing clip within 24 hours and was very helpful. I wish I'd waited for them to reply first, Apologies Mr Pixels Ltd!It should be noted that the attaching of the inner diffusion is a little fiddly and the elasticed loops the diffusion attaches too look like they could suffer in the long term. However, this is also true of other much more expensive softboxs I have used too.It's also worth noting that on the 80cm model due to the depth of the softbox the central shaft does protrude through the outer diffusion (as part of the design). The 95cm, 120cm and 150cm versions are deep enough that this doesn't occur.The slight protusion of the shaft has no effect on the softness of the light.Overall, a well made, very good value octabox that produces nice soft light for a fraction of the cost of some other brands.I would highly recommend this octabox for the price.

It's a good softbox, however it does have some flaws. Compares to my Westcott Rapid Box (albeit a much more expensive Octabox), I found the Bowens mount thicker and much harder to mount on certain lights / accessories. It's also much heavier which isn't great news for the mount or balance of the rig. The way the internal diffusion attached literally makes me want to throw the whole thing straight into a firepit. Please, please, please put poppers into this thing - these stupid little clips are such a fiddly ballache!If you have issues opening the umbrella, make sure you have undone the velcro strips around the mount.Overall, not bad for the price, and the grid is a lovely bonus. However, I returned mine due to the awkward bowens mount. Buy it if it's your first Octabox. Go for something like a Westcott if you're looking for something with more longevity.

I purchased the Luxlight 80cm Octobox to use primarily for corporate headshots and portraits. Delivery was super quick, arriving the following day before 8.30 am and everything was very well packaged. I’d contacted the company before ordering to ask a couple of questions and they responded immediately and were incredibly helpful in answering my questions. The softbox itself is excellent using really good quality, sturdy materials and gives me confidence it will last a long time. It is easily on a par with some of the heavily overpriced softboxes from other manufacturers costing five to ten times the price. The softbox is umbrella style and can be assembled with its two layers of diffusion and grid in a matter of minutes. The light quality produced is excellent and packing up takes no time at all. You really can’t go wrong with this softbox and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others. Extremely pleased with my purchase.

I bought this octabox for my portraits and it does not disappoint, it creates such a beautiful soft light! It comes in it's own bag and is pretty small when folded up so it can be taken on location easily. The octabox pops up just like an umbrella which is such a bonus and makes it much quicker when setting up. The metal structure of the umbrella like part feels sturdy and well made.I used this with a speedlight and got great results with the portraits I took. The grid is also very effective at stopping light spillage and creating a more direct contrasty light. I would highly recommend this octabox as it's strong and sturdy, quick and easy to put up and take down as well as bringing a gorgeous soft natural looking light to your images.
