how long does the toner last

I reckon that I can get well over 2500 sheets out of it, if not more! I use it nearly everyday and the one I have in at present has been in since.... September? And it shows no.signs of running out!

Should I save 80% and buy a compatible non-HP cartridge?

A saving of 80% would appear to be very good value.

Is this a full toner? I'm already getting printer might be out toner message, it just goes to show you pay peanuts you get monkeys!

Mine came in a HP box and was in a sealed plastic bag inside the box. AS far as I can tell it is an original Hewlett Packard full toner cartridge. I haven't installed this one but the previous one lasted me 3 years. Depends on how many pages you print and what's on them. I would guess I printed about 1000 pages but I don't keep track.
