Works well (excellent)
Burns well, lasts a long time. Comparatively speaking, with other fire starters it appears it will start your campfire easily enough: unless you are totally incompetent at starting fires. For me, it was as easy as anything and easier than just lighting a match to some kindling. I actually thought it was cheating a bit, but IT WORKS! I will buy this again.I have to update my comments; I burned one of these, with no other tinder, on a concrete patio and the result was excellent for an experienced person and would be very good for a novice. An expert would have other small branches readily available with larger logs standing by. A novice probably would not, but these are very forgiving as far as getting burning material and mine lasted, with some wind, for 10 minutes before the flame went out. I imagine the heat would last for a couple of more minutes, but for me, it wouldn't be necessary. As an experienced camper and outdoors person, I could easily see how these could be seen as "cheaters" because of how easy they are.

She’s a firestarter
My wife is a professional fire dancer and has been lighting and working with fire for 15+ years. I bought these to try out for a camping trip at elevation (harder to light fires further up). Her: “honey where did you get these fire starters from?”Me: “read a review that the people that made them (UCO) were good why? Are they not working?”Her: “No, they are. They are awesome. Flawless use starting the fires. Maybe best fire starter I’ve used outside of fuel.”So if she says it I believe it.

Very useful
I live in the country and burn my trash - These have saved me a lot of time because I can just light it, wait a few seconds for it to catch fully, and then drop it in the burn barrel. -- That waiting a few seconds to catch fully is a really important step. If you just drop it immediately after striking it, then it'll go out so be patient. It's still faster than using a lighter.
