Essential book for anyone who deals with people
A friend actually had this book and after browsing through I had to buy one for myself. I’ve never read it cover to cover, I use it as a reference when I’m dealing with different people at work. I am from New Zealand and it took me several years to realise the subtle cultural differences between there and the UK where I’ve live for the last ten years. I work in marketing and have colleagues and clients from all over the world, particularly the US and Europe. This book is so helpful for for figuring out the best way to present information to different people depending on the education system and culture they grew up with. It is incredibly fascinating to read about and so many things started to make sense to me in terms of communication challenges with certain people. Turns out they weren’t being difficult, they just need information presented in a different order to make sense of it. An absolute life saver of a book and essential reading for anyone in leadership, management or a client facing role.

Fascinating reading for anyone working in a multi-national company
Based on interesting research, this book helps anyone managing a multi-cultural team or dealing with customers and suppliers around the world to gain a sense of the norms of each country and behave accordingly. I wish I'd read it years ago.

I really enjoyed reading it
The book seems to get more interesting the further you get into it and I’m worried that some people might just give up on the introduction and the first two chapters and miss the best bits. It’s interesting learning about different cultures from different countries but it’s also a good reminder that people in our country are going to have different styles and approaches even though we were born and raised in the same country. A useful reminder that there are lots of different ways to think about things and process things and when other people seem frustrating they may just be thinking in one of these other ways.If you’ve only got time to read one chapter I suggest you read chapter 3 on different ways of persuasion which I thought that was the most interesting chapter.Chapter 4 about hierarchical environments and non-hierarchical environments is also very interesting as well. There are plenty of real life examples which keeps it interesting and readable and less boring. There are eight short punchy chapters (25 pages each) discussing 8 different aspects.I am retired I’m just reading it out of interest - you don’t have to be involved in international business to consider this a good read.

Very insightful book!
Really good book and very insightful! It is targeted mostly for individuals in multicultural groups at work, although anyone can benefit from it. It presents research/analysis in a story-like way with a lot of examples making it an easy and interesting read. A lot of visuals as well that helps you get the msg quickly. It really helped me see things in a different way, not just black and white (but more like “it seems black/white from where I’m standing culturally”)I definitely recommend reading this book, not only for working individuals but for everyone in multicultural groups, or even having friends all over the world. There are so many things you can take from this book! I have already recommended it to many friends and colleagues.

A must-read
This is a must-read for anyone working with global teams, or in multicultural teams, not only if you're leading, but if you're part of it.
