Very cheap running reasonable colour printer
Set this up yesterday so not yet a long term relationship but the first date went well.Very impressed so far.Set up was easy. You use a USB cable (not provided) to initially link to the PC, then use the enclosed CD to run an install program that connects to the router. From that point on it is accessed via the wifi.Initially I got a little confused as I ran the "usb connection" set up. Run the "wifi setup" installer and it will go smoothly. When you have set it up an "ET-2500 (network)" printer will appear in your devices list. Even the desktop PC prints via the wifi and does not need yet another usb plugging into the back. The printer itself looks great. Adding the ink from bottles was easy. It is a fair bit smaller and certainly lighter than my old laser printer. The feel of the printer is fine. Another reviewer said the plastic bent when you pushed the power button. Perhaps a bit, but i personally am not worried that the casing is going to fall apart. The scanner lid feels durable. The feeder trays are as you would expect.Using the printer was easy. Reasonably quiet. Not too slow. No problems with print quality. The standard image printing is draft and as such is fairly grainy and not very bright. It is easy to change the colour settings to higher quality. This makes the image much more vibrant. All this is done on standard paper. I have not yet tried glossy. Text is sharp and easy to read. Im guessing it is pretty easy to change the default print settings but Im happy that the standard is draft.Setting up other laptops is a matter of using the CD and running the install program. This installs drivers and does the wifi set up. About 5 minutes per machine.Printing from mobile devices can be done via e mail or using an app (I use android). It all works well enough and it is quite fun to e mail your printer. Im not sure how much i will use it. Some of the settings to change colour options seem lacking (but im still learning). As already stated I have not tried the glossy paper yet.I'm hopeful that it will work pretty well as the prints on basic paper seem pretty good.To be honest, if I wanted lots of photos done I would probably use snapfish or something. My previous laser printer never really generated good quality photo prints and the ink cost over £100 for a full set replacement. So in my experience it rarely makes sense to print photos at home. The main benefit of the laser over an ink jet was it didn't clog up and have lines in the printout like older ink jets did.But replacing those cartridges was painful so when it started to act up I looked at the ET 2500.Previous experience of inkjets from about 10 years ago was that long periods of inactivity meant the heads blocked and you had to use loads of ink to clear them. Replacement ink cost more than the printer. So I was wary of getting into that vicious circle again with ink jets. Now have teenage kids and the increasing need to print homework and research every weekend makes it unlikely that it will sit idle for long periods. Also, a new bottle of ink costs £7. That is fantastic. It means I wont be moaning at the kids for using the equipment. One less thing to stress about. The wifi link means I wont have to do battle with microsoft homegroup idiosyncrasies or run upstairs to turn on the pc to print from a laptop. It should, I hope, just work. This printer is designed for me. Cost per sheet is about 0.02p.It can do colour images and text to a reasonable standard. It is reasonably quiet and not too slow.Unless it clogs up we should be happy enough together.UPDATE - several months of frequent use and it is still going well. Reading some of the other reviews I honestly do not know what they expect. This printer works very well and costs peanuts to run.

Saves time, money and hassle. Super easy to set up, refill and use.
I was sent this item for review with my family of 8 including 2 college students and 3 school children.I've had the Epson ET-2500 for nearly 2 weeks and have printed around 50-60 sheets so far, mainly images and full colour. I'm very impressed with the sharpness of the print quality, it's spot on with no gaps or blurriness.Set up was incredibly simple out of the box to ready-to-print in less than 30 minutes, including pushing through the ink to the heads and setting up wi-fi connection to my home network using the WPS button on the router.Filling the ink was neat, tidy and clean, and only took 5 minutes. It's almost a waste that it shouldn't need doing again for a year or two! Refill ink costs only £32 for a full refill - this is not far off what my last refill cartridges cost me for my previous printer. The wi-fi connection is a big bonus. The app for phone is amazingly simple and I can take a photo or screenshot and have the print in my hand within around 15 seconds.Prints arrive dry, and I've had no transfer between sheets of paper, even when using photo paper. Image copies are a little bit paler than originals, but aside from that virtually identical whether scanned in, taken from stored images or websites. Text reproduction is really clear and sharp, even when tiny.Perfectly good enough for my teenagers to print off posters, college work and we've even used photo paper to create a birthday card. The Eco-Tank is not particularly noisy in use at all, ours is in the lounge and doesn't upset anyone who is watching TV. We haven't had any issues whatsoever with paper jam, running ink, smudges or any other problems. It's almost too good so far!Overall I'm delighted. My kids are delighted that I'm letting them print out certificates and pictures they've made and earned on the PC, my teenagers are delighted they don't have to queue at the college library, and we won't be complaining about cost.A more expensive outlay that the average family would first consider, but worth it for long-term savings and sheer time-saving handiness.
