A Decent Mini DVR That Does the Job (Poor Adapter)
So far a good little unit. Records well and does the job.Opening the box ...The unit comes with leads that plug into the video/audio in and out jacks and converts to a BNC type connection or an RCA type connection via the included adapters - these are 'standard' video connections. While this is good, it would be sensible for one lead to terminate in a male connector and one a female connector as you would expect to fit this unit between a camera and a screen set up. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to have been fully thought out and the unit came with two female RCA connections - not great for connections to a standard camera. Fortunately I had a lead that would connect directly from the 3.5mm jack to a male RCA connector. You could also get some adapters (eg BNC male to RCA male). The power adapter works but will need a shaver plug for you to plug the 2 pin plug into a UK socket. Thankfully I already knew this from a previous review (thank you!) so this didn't come as a shock. I would also say that any movement in the cable can be enough to upset the two pins and turn the power off. Fortunately I only intended to use the lead coming from the adapter anyway to create my own cable splitting power from an existing cable to also power the recorder. (DC power splitters are available ready made for a very reasonable price if needed).Powering on ...Okay, power attached, camera attached, screen attached, all switched on, reach for the instruction booklet ... oh dear. Actually, it's not the worst English instruction booklet I've seen from Chinese manufacturers but isn't overly helpful.Basically the function button switches record off temporarily (instruction book suggests 10 seconds). A flashing red LED signifies recording, solid red that it's not. Everything else is run by the wheel button. Once record is off, push the wheel button in. This brings up the set up menu. Rotate the wheel either left or right to highlight the option you want and press the button in to select. Options here include choosing language, setting the date/time, recording modes and picture resolution. Navigating each sub menu is the same set up - turn the wheel to right/left to highlight/change press the wheel button in to select/set.Two definitions are available for recording, namely 640x480 or the default 320x240. Three modes are availble for recording - motion detection, continuous or mixed. Mixed recording will record while motion is detected and then only one frame per second once motion has stopped. You can also set the sensitivity level to motion but since I was only interested in continuous recording I didn't try this out.Once the mode, definition and date/time was set it was plain sailing. Powering up the system automatically sets the system to record in the way you've selected with a date and time stamp. A flick of a power switch sets it recording after a delay of about a second as it powers up. Similarly, the last second is lost as it powers down. For short recordings the system works perfectly so far. I've not tested the DVR over long record times, but initial tests before I put the camera in place recording over several minutes were fine. The aluminium case was easy to fix in place due to mount holes. This was important for me as it is being used in a situation where the system is moving, so a good way to set it firmly in place was essential.Other than issues with the adapter and connectors I am happy with this piece of kit. It does the job, looks quite good and appears to be sturdy. Don't forget you need a memory card (micro SD) to enable recording.

Turn your car cameras into security cameras.
I’ve concealed this unit inside the dash on my car and fitted a covert front facing camera. It works perfectly and I can view the images on my car stereo if I need to (great when parking in tight spaces). Auto records on start-up and does exactly what I need should I get into an accident. I’ll be fitting one to my reversing camera in the next few weeks making the camera permanently record but only display when selecting reverse. A great little unit which is better than a dash cam as nobody knows it’s there.

Poor quality
Red LED not working. Poor quality - cannot read numberplates - colors could be better. Se video clip.

Great value DVR device - but with some significant limitations.
Great little device. I'm using it to record overnight on an owl box. I use it in Mixed mode and it records 5 minute .avi files. If the activity level is below the preset threshold, it records at one frame per second. With movement, it records full video. So only necessary to review the larger files to see when anything interesting happens. Only gripe - but not enough to lose a star - is that setting the clock is a bit tedious, and of course has to be reset every time the power is disconnected. Not an issue if you are connected to the mains, but with my owl box several hundred metres away from mains, it has to run of a battery and the battery needs to come back for recharging each day. Anyway - great value for the money.Purchased a second device later in the year, and this one retains the settings when power is removed. So either the device spec has been upgraded or this one is faulty. Reduced the stars to 3 because of the seller response.I did message the seller but they were very unhelpful!!!! If you are intent on buying one of these make sure you get the latest version.

Looks good, but does not have a UK adaptor
Well, this looks well made and should be easy to use, but I haven't managed to power it up yet as the DC adaptor doesn't have a UK plug on it. It's a two pin type, so I'll need to get an adaptor for it.I'll provide an update once it's up and running.
