Easy install to CCTV recorder
I bought this to replace a failed hard drive in my Alien CCTV digital video recorder. I could see a live view on the CCTV but there were no recordings. The old hard drive was 500GB so I went for the 1TB to double the recording capacity. Installation was very easy as the position of the mounting screw holes on the underside of the hard drive matched the holes in the base of the DVR. Just two ribbon cables to plug into the hard drive and after formatting, which was automatic and took about five minutes, it was all up and running and working perfectly.CCTV fixed next day and upgraded to double recording capacity for less than £44 when an engineer call out could easily have been three times that plus the cost of the hard drive. Very happy indeed, thanks Amazon!

As advertised and on time
As advertised and on time, I bought this one to replace the last one I bought for my CCTV recorder when it failed, the failure I found out via interweb was due to Hard drives getting to hot when left on 24 7 like in a CCTV system. They claim this one does not, after 2 weeks it is still OK and seems very cool when touched, A OK So far and I am optimistic!

Great hard drive, installed on a PC to manage IP camera recordings
We purchased this hard drive to add another hard drive into our Dell PC. We record wildlife in our garden - 20 cameras recording 24/7 and were concerned our hard drive was getting a hammering! We ordered this drive, it arrived the next day as we are Prime Members, arrived in a plastic bag within the Amazon box. We followed a video on YouTube which advised how to install it and within a few minutes it was up and running. It’s now been installed for a month and we’ve not experienced any problems 🤞. It’s a great size at 4TB and is providing us with about 11 days of footage before it overwrites. When researching this hard drive, everyone on here said it needs to be installed on a CCTV system, but we can testify that you can install it on a PC to manage cameras that are constantly writing to a hard drive.

Good OEM drive
So to be clear, my end use for this is purely for recording on my NVR, and for that this fits the bill perfectly. I’m not sure what I was expecting with regards to packaging but was surprised it wasn’t in retail packaging, so I guess it’s OEM? I didn’t see it mentioned but is honestly not a problem. Worth noting though in case you were expecting cables etc or a box with instructions. Fairly average when it comes to £/TB, and not too noisy an addition to my rack. Still a 5* as the price is what it is and honestly not bothered being OEM. This compliments another 2TB WD Purple I already have which has been solid as a rock, and was the obvious choice when I needed another drive

1TB HD ideal for NVR or PC use.
Installed this into an NVR. Very easy to install, just hook-up the two leads and it's ready to operate after the NVR has formatted the HD. Records CCTV effortlessly, providing first-rate playback. Expect this HD to have a life time of at least 5 years, hopefully more as per my previous HD. Good buy for the price and would recommend for either normal PC use or NVR.
