It looks like I'll be able to reset/clear any future warnings if ...
Bought this for my Land Rover Discovery3 after it kept dropping into limp mode with an engine system warning light... I also paid £4.19 for an iPhone app (Engine Link) to communicate with it and amazingly it did just that. After inserting the Elm237 (above the accelerator pedal) you simply go to the phone settings & search for the Elm wifi network, tap connect and the Elm starts flashing red blue orange. Open the app (there are a few options in the App Store so do your research) and after perhaps a minute, the phone app starts registering data. If you start the engine you can monitor all sorts of info. It took perhaps 5mins to show me the historic error codes, as the warning light turned itself off before the device arrived. It looks like I'll be able to reset/clear any future warnings if necessary. I only gave 4 stars because the Elm doesn't seem to recognise all of the Disco's fuel system so I don't get all the data that the app is able to show.

Smooth As Silk
Ordered this a few days ago, got here within a couple of days neatly packaged no problem. The package comprised the item plus a mini-CD ROM which contained user instructions and software to allow the support of the product on a laptop or PC. Connection was dead simple.. I located the interface port on my car (beneath the steering wheel) and plugged the product in. 1 Red lamp displayed on the unit to show power was supplied. On my iPhone 5 I located the Dash Command App in the App Store and downloaded it and installed it to my phone. I turned the ignition on the car to On without starting the car and then in Settings on the phone I selected the ODBII Wifi connection. I selected the App on the phone and it opened on the main menu. All as smooth as silk. The functionality comes from the app of which there are several you can down load though I can particularly recommend the Dash Command App, however it is the smooth interface provided by the Wireless OBD2 which makes it all happen. Unbeatable for the price. I take my car on track and this is a great tool for ensuring that there are no hidden gremlins before during and after runs.

DO NOT install any of the software on the CD
DO NOT install any of the software on the CD. My anti-virus software found two Trojan virus threats buried in the diagnostics software. The software also has filenames like 'engine-scan-cracked.exe', so it is presumably all pirate copies. The copy of the Dash Command app is very old and does not install. As for the unit itself, it's much longer than most of the other OBD2 units on sale, so the 'fuse box' cover will not fit when this is plugged in. I cannot get it to work with the popular 'Dash' app and am going to return it. There are plenty of other units on the market.

This works very well as far as the standard goes and the compliance of the car manufacturers. Unfortunately , for someone wanting to do maintenance on their own car, software and exclusive manufacturer fault code can limit the usefulness of such devices, especially on more recent BMW cars.
