Steering is very unreliable.
The positive: This vehicle has outstanding off-road capability and can climb over all kinds of things. With its locking differentials, it is extremely capable of going over rocks, branches, mud, sand, dirt, and various other obstacles.The negative: The steering (servo) can go out easily. Even though it's supposed to have metal gearing in its servo, it tends to strip out easily and not be very durable.I would not buy this again and do not recommend it.

A year later, still a fantastic RC vehicle!
A year ago - I have used nothing but Traxxas RC vehicles for many years now. I usually drive my Traxxas Rustler, which has some upgraded tires and suspension, and lipo batteries (of course). I finally fell interested in the crawler RC category....and I was surprised how amazing going slow can be! The Rustler gives me cool slides...sweet jumps...and speed to keep up with cars driving down my street. But the TRX4 makes me think about the course and angles and strategy it takes to get from one point to another....regardless of what's in the way. Being able to go practically anywhere is something I've never been able to do before. The TRX4 Tactical has so many features that actually make a difference that you can really tell when they're on or when they're off. Anyone who rates the TRX4 (of any style) other than 5 stars absolutely has to be using it incorrectly. This rig is just amazing!1 year update - Since purchasing the TRX4 Tactical, I have driven it countless hours. And all of the hours have been great! I take the TRX4 on light hikes thru the woods sometimes. I just put on a light backpack and carry a couple extra fully charged batteries, and off I go. One part I enjoy alot is....the amount of cool and positive comments I get from other people walking by on the paths. On a 1 to 10 satisfaction scale, I'm still at a solid 10!

This truck is awesome. Will built, robust, realistic. Needs a battery with a Traxxas connector with 3 port 4 cells. The battery needs a specialized charger so don't forget that. Amazon had there battery and charger as a set.If you have no idea what is the difference between a 3S and a 4S battery, buy the 3S. It's cheaper and will allow you to get your feet wet with Lipo batteries. Make sure you keep the battery protection circuit enabled.Recharge the battery after every use is my last advice.On there other hand if you know the difference, then get the 4S. Amazing performance! Just don't hit the curb going full speed or you'll need a new steering servo. On this topic Amazon has a great all metal 20kg servo with metal servo horns... Ask me how I know ;-)

Great car but...
Great car and very fun except lost steering after second day most complaints about steering loss is because of the gears stripping inside the servo it is not that it is because the plastic steering servo horn stripped out avoid small impacts to front tires unless you have a metal steering servo horn it is not the gears inside the servo because those are metal but just the dinky plastic servo horn.

Awesome rig. All the extra features adds to the crawling experience. I own a trx4 sport as a dedicated crawler. Having one with locking diffs and a 2 speed gives the rig a little bit of a bashing experience as well. On top of that Traxxas has dropped the price as well!

Please can you get in touch with us - this is the 2nd traaxas we have bought and it’s broken again :((( the steering doesn’t work. It was for my son’s birthday and he was so excited. He took it out for the afternoon and was so thrilled but by the 2nd afternoon it wasn’t working. We are in France. What can we do? Please get in touch. Thank you!

Don't use it too hard.
The Traxxas was a blast to use but the motor burnt out in 2 weeks. Must have been a dud.
