Great jumper cable for traveling, commuting, and EDCing with your laptop. While the case is plastic, it seems durable enough for its use-case. Though it's only one meter in length, it's very convenient if you need something to connect to a conference room or library projector. Haven't had any performance issues, but admittedly I'm not able to push it to its maximum specifications as I only have access to 1440p 165Hz displays and lesser.Overall quite happy with this portable cable from Cable Matters, and happy to recommend their products. Just make sure you pay close attention to the listed specifications to make sure you're getting what you need and expect, because they sell a variety of components with lesser or greater capability in devices that look almost identical.

I don't need this often, but when I do (traveling), having a compact HDMI cable is perfect.

This is a 4K / 8K retractable HDMI cable perfect for travel. I got this to connect my laptop to a TV or larger computer monitor while I travel. It is compact from 6" at the smallest to 43" fully extended. The quality of the cable's construction appears to be very good. The picture quality is great and supports 4K and 8K resolution.However, it does try to automatically retract at all times and doesn't have a spring lock to keep it at the length you want. While using it the cable tries to retract and strains the connections to your devices. I wish you could extend it to the length you need and have it lock into place. Then when you are finished, press a button to release it and automatically have the cable retract back into the housing. Also, several times I have had it jam while trying to retract. By just pulling it out a little and letting it retract, it will fix itself. But, the mechanism seems a little flimsy and may not last a lot of use.Cable Matters is a reputable company that stands behind their products. I also paired this cable with another Cable Matters adapter that connects the USB-C port on my laptop to an HDMI female connection. Then I attach this HDMI cable to a TV or computer monitor. Overall, I am very happy and feel this is a very good value and quality.

Gotta love any cord that's retractable. This one seems sturdy enough, we'll see how it lasts over time. Definitely more expensive than your basic HDMI cables, but you're paying for the convenience of something that is retractable and easier to transport.
