Fiddly as heck to set it up initially, but it does exactly what you want it to once its all set up. Keeps the dust down and helps you cut in a straight line.

This item certainly reduces the dust. Takes a while to set up though. I give it 4 stars.

It comes with a set of plastic collars to suit a range of grinders, but the clamping arrangement does not hold the grinder securely. With my grinder, the inner blade fouled the housing, so I had to add a spacer, losing width as a result. The maximum cutting width is 32mm, which is not wide enough to accommodate a cable channel. I changed to using it with a single blade, which needed two runs up the wall. Having cut the plaster, it is still necessary to remove the material in between. Even when using a lightweight vacuum hose, it is still cumbersome to use, especially high up. It is difficult to guide accurately, because the blade position is not visible. There is a notch on the housing, but I found that the blade still wandered. After a few uses, I ditched it and just used a cranked gouging chisel on a rotary hammer drill, easier to control and much quicker.

It did the job, but the tolerances it is built to mean that I would not want to try using it for the full described width of a chase. However the it worked well for a 25mm chase, and the dust hood certainly significantly reduced the amount of dust released. Make sure your vacuum cleaner has a good long hose or you will have to elevate the cleaner to make sure the hose reaches floor to ceiling.

This shroud looks like a great product & if it had been made properly probably is. I have a heavier shroud by the same company & that works great HOWEVER:This unit came with a serious assembly defect. The circular steel plate that attaches to the grinder was welded badly & out of parallel so that when a disc was put on it was out of parallel & the weld was weak enough to flex. A defect like this should not have got past any factory quality control.I''m a builder by profession so spotted this but someone less observant may have missed it. If the weld had broken while a cutting disc was spinning things could have been nasty. By all means buy, it should be a good product but give it a very good look over to be sure all is parallel & fixed as it should be.
