Great book for any kiddo experiencing separation anxiety
This book really helped my six year old… therefore, helped mom and dad , too! :)We would work through a chapter together each day before school. Vocalizing and writing down her feelings eased her fears a bit , and the step by step plans helped motivate and comfort her. The verbiage used was simple and encouraging!

Helps 6 year old with separation anxiety
My daughter entered first grade last month and has been experiencing separation anxiety since she spent the summer at home. Our pediatrician recommended this book series to help her develop coping techniques and provide conversation starts/talking points so that I can help her at home. We are about 75 to 80% of the way through the book and I've noticed a great improvement. One of the points in the book that continues to stick with her is that "Mom always comes back". The book suggested we write it down, so we put it on a post-it note and she carries it with her in her backpack. When she starts to feel nervous, we repeat the mantra together.I liked that the book is broken up into manageable chapters that we could read and discuss together in our limited spare time. For the brainstorming parts, we would work together on coming up with solutions, and I would do the writing, the space was a bit limited for a 6 year olds handwriting. Additionally, I would love to see this in a spiral bound version, for ease of writing.

Amazing book!!!
This is an perfect book for kiddos with separation anxiety. My 6 year old had a really tough time with the transition into 1st grade. After many tears had been shed, from her and I, we spoke with a child psychologist who recommended this book. I can not say enough good things about it. I love that it is written to the child. My daughter made an instant connection with this book and could easily understand the message.

Daughter uses the lessons
One of the few things that has helped my 8 year old daughter with extreme anxiety. She even brought it to school to show her counselor.

Good for upper elementary kids
I use this in my work as a child therapist. It's a good book, but the balloon analogy is a bit hard to connect with for some of the younger kids, like ages 6-7. It works better for ages 8-10.
