Full disclosure: I am not a physician, and this review does not constitute medical advice. Also, ipso facto, my own personal experience with a product is strictly anecdotal, and thus does not constitute any sort of statistical evidence that it works. Now, having said all that, I believe, on the basis of my own extensive reading, that it is generally well-accepted that selenium is an antioxidant with anti-inflammatory effects, and that it might reasonably be characterized as an "immune-booster." It is certainly an ingredient in a number of very popular products that purport to be immune-boosters. A quick search suffices to identify multiple nih gov website articles, e.g. "The influence of Selenium on Immune Responses" and "The Role of Selenium in Inflammation and Immunity" that would appear to affirm that.This seems to work for me (in conjunction with a number of other supplements) as an anti-inflammatory, and the per-unit price of about 3¢ is phenomenally good. I am normally reticent to write reviews recommending ANY product of which I may thereby cause the price to be increased or the availability to be diminished in a time of scarcity, but there appears to be no shortage whatever of supplies of selenium from multiple sources, and this one purchase will last me for eight months (or may last you "only" four, if you take two tablets a day). Either way, it's a no-brainer, economical puchase of a plausibly helpful product from an extremely well-known company, so I'm not going to worry about that. Obviously, no one should take selenium who has a known adverse reaction to selenium, or any drug or supplement without competent medical advice, but with that caveat, I don't see that there's much to lose in trying it for its anti-inflammatory and/or anti-oxidative properties.

just what I wanted

For years, I would eat raw pumpkin seeds to help my prostate. The seeds help the prostate relax so I could urinate more easily. After a bit of study, I learned selenium was the main ingredient in the seeds that did the trick. So, I started using these pills instead. They seem to work. I mean, I'm not peeing like a race horse, but I don't strain like I used to.Note: your mileage may vary. They seem to work for me. You see if they work for you. I'm not a doctor, don't play one on TV, am not a nutritionist or play one on TV. Take my comments with a grain of salt. Seek professional help.

You may want to know that two types of Selenium are featured here. There are 100 mcg tablets and also 200 mcg capsules. The tablets are listed as having chocolate, vanilla, etc. flavors. However, they are really just white unflavored tablets, which are what I really wanted anyway. The flavors reference is apparently mistaken from some other product.

Appeared fresh and works as described. Easy to swallow with no stomach upset noticed. Well packaged. Good value as well.

I have subclinical hypothyroid (Hasshimoto). My traditional doc had the brilliant strategy of wait til your thyroid is really damaged and then start the long journey of trying to manage it. While everyone's journey and outcomes are different, I did find a lot of helpful info via Izabella Wentz. I was able to cut my Thyroglobulin Antibodies in half in 4 months. These are the evidence that your body is attacking itself. I have been on these a year and all my test results continue to decrease. I appreciate taking these pills as a preventative measure as opposed to the non-vegan options once your thyroid is destroyed. They are small, easy to swallow. I'm not really bothered by the taste as it is mild and gone once you swallow. Very well priced. Glad I found them!
