Extra oomph to everything savory

I used to buy porcini salt from a small store but they went out of business, I’m going to try to use this porcini powder. It smells good and gives a decent taste but I wish I could find the one I was used to.

This is possibly the most pathetic restaurant purchase we’ve made in 20 years of being in business. The product is bitter and full of sand. It’s made in the USA which means if the mushrooms were grown here they are of the Bolete variety from the Pacific Northwest which is genetically similar but inferior to its European counterpart. Our supplier ran out and we were forced to make an Amazon purchase. Amazon obviously doesn’t carry the French and Italian versions any longer because the mark up on this one is so high since it’s dirt. Definitely not suitable for human consumption. Maybe fertilizer ?

The aroma and flavor are strong, and the mushrooms rehydrate well. They were cleaner than any mushrooms I would get at the store. I bought them for the first time to make a traditional Eastern European mushroom soup for Christmas but I will make another purchase soon to incorporate into everyday cooking.

This 3oz package of dried porcini was a pretty good value for the price. The pieces are generally large and the flavor was very good and rich.However, I found them dirtier than most other brands. The bottom of the stems were dried with all the dirt and pine needles still attached, so it made them extremely hard to clean. And today, while eating the 3rd batch of risotto I've made with them, in the last bowl... my daughter found an entire worm. Being a mushroom forager myself, I understand this happens and is harmless - but try explaining that to a strict vegetarian!If these were cleaned and checked better before drying, they would be really perfect for flavor and value. But since a large portion of the bag was lower stem pieces with the earth dried in, I would not buy this brand again.
