The Grand Escape

I loved this book when I was a kid so I bought it for my son, he is excited to read it cause he loves cats haha.

The Grand Escape is a wonderful children’s book that adults will love, too! The main characters are brothers Marco and Polo, who are explorers like their namesakes, but as escaped housecats. Their adventures are beautifully told and the reader is along for an engaging ride with them. I have bought many copies of this book to give as gifts, to adults and children, both. This is part of a series of books, each of which stands alone, however. Although this one remains my favorite, each is a great read. This is a great choice of a book to read aloud to your children. Fourth graders would be able to read it on their own. However, the themes make for great discussions about peer pressure, moving toward independence, trust, and love and belonging.

I read this book to my kids the first year it came out- 1995! I still remember it vividly! Unfortunately I remembered it as the “Great Escape”, so when I was ready to read it to my grandson- no luck finding it. Thank goodness for the internet. Can’t wait to read this to my 7 yr. old over Christmas break! Perfect read aloud book- great characters with personality!!!

Naylor never disappoints! Ever. I just re-read this whole series...and I'm an adult. Naylor makes the reader fall in love her cats through action, humor and emotion. A must read for Naylor fans and kitty lovers. Fun and exciting read!

Fabulous read for young adults and teens; especially for those who love cats.
